************************

In FTL you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.

Key Features:

  • Complex Strategic Gameplay - Give orders to your crew, manage ship power distribution and choose weapon targets in the heat of battle.
  • Play at Your Own Speed - Pause the game mid-combat to evaluate your strategy and give orders.
  • Unique Lifeforms and Technology – Upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of six diverse alien races.
  • Be the Captain You Want - Hundreds of text based encounters will force you to make tough decisions.
  • Randomized Galaxy - Each play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your decisions. No two play-throughs will be quite the same.
  • No Second Chances! - Permadeath means when you die, there's no coming back. The constant threat of defeat adds importance and tension to every action.

One of the original indie games that I adored. I am _really_ terrible at it, but the one more run gameplay is undeniably fun.

Genre defining classic. If you've played Slay the Spire, let me tell you that this game plays differently, but it has the same magic.

I've had this game since release, I could never quite get the hang of it. Every encounter has a predetermined outcome, there doesn't appear to be any chance involved, you either pick the right option or you don't. Better have the wiki open. The soundtrack and art is awesome, the idea is great, I've just never enjoyed actually playing it. For the reasons listed I cannot recommend it. Buy the soundtrack.

Both of the subset games titles I've played (FTL and Into the Breach) immediately jumped to my favorite games of all time. They're in a very unique category of games in which losing can be just as fun as winning, and each time I play is exactly as fun as the last, if not more since I understand the mechanics better and find new options to play with. As an added bonus, the pauseable/turn-based nature of the games makes them perfect for playing during down time at work, during quick breaks, etc. Can't recommend this enough.

I'm going to refund this thing i don't even care, on my second encounter in EASY MODE on my first playthrough some guy with 150 health just walked on my ship said screw you and then I was just cooked and died while I was still learning the game. I know 'its a rougelike its mean to make you build something good'. but what rougelike kills you on your second map selection in easy mode. Elden ring is easier than this.

This game was decent like 10 years go. I dont think i'd recommend it in 2025. Replaying it, its pretty bad, but if you go into it expecting the worst I'm sure its fun.

I have never before played a game where I get all the way to the final boss and the result is a draw. I built around boarding, and got in and destroyed every one of the enemy ships weapons. Unfortunately with the huge number of crew members and door control they could easily cycle out crew from the main ship body making it impossible to kill them with boarders alone and my only weapons were healing missiles and ion cannons. But they couldn't repair their weapons. So the boss couldn't hurt me and I couldn't hurt them. Amazingly anti-climatic and frustrating end to a run.

Bought this game a while back and could never get on with the RNG aspect. comparing numbers and statistics really isn't for me. So I decided to play a game and run my decisions through an AI to get the best possible outcome for any given scenario. With AI at the wheel that should eliminate the statistical analysing that I hate so much, I can be Captain Picard with Cmd Data at the con, right? Wrong, AI cannot keep up with the bad luck bullshit this game throws at you. Even with a good setup there's always that one ship that magically turns up with the one weapon that undermines everything you have. It's like playing rock paper scissors, but your opponent has a gun, which he will use if he feels like you're winning too much. For all those people who can finish a game I say, you have too much time on your hands and low self esteem to be able to take that many losses for a wet fart of a win. And buy yourself a lottery ticket, you have higher than average luck.
