About the Game

Having received a letter from his deceased wife,

James heads to where they shared so many memories,

in the hope of seeing her one more time: Silent Hill.

There, by the lake, he finds a woman eerily similar to her...

"My name… is Maria," the woman smiles. Her face, her voice... She's just like her.

Experience a master-class in psychological horror―lauded as the best in the series―on the latest hardware with chilling visuals and visceral sounds.

High-end Graphics and Sound

With ray tracing and other cutting-edge technical enhancements, the world of SILENT HILL and its unsettling ambiance is even realer than before.

And with the inclusion of new, immersive soundscapes, you'll feel like you're standing in the thick of it.

Larger Environments

Explore locations and buildings that were once inaccessible, or are newly added in the remake.

Enjoy the same acclaimed story, even while you experience the town of Silent Hill with fresh eyes across an expanded map.

Over-the-shoulder Camera

The remake moves from the original's fixed-camera viewpoints to an over-the-shoulder perspective, putting you closer to what James sees, for a more thrilling, more immersive experience as you explore the town and come face-to-face with monsters.

Evolved Combat Gameplay

Familiar weapons like the steel pipe and handgun make their return, but now with an updated combat system.

Avoid attacks with carefully timed dodges, aim down sights, and more, making monster encounters more engaging and nerve-wracking than ever.

I just cannot get this game out of my head, unforgettable experience Thank you for not ruining the charm of the original game and even enhance some parts of it, 9.5 (performance and could make some parts a bit shorter, but the good outweighs this much more)

a mans journey through his own personal hell dictated by guilt, grief, lust and punishment. For a first time player I thought it was a great experience, confusing af but great none the less

Oh boy a modern remake of what is probably my favorite game of all time. If you want the TL:DR before I get into spoilers and specifics my feelings on the game are this: It feels like a smoothed over version of the classic game with modern design and production philosophies. There are both positive and negatives to this and I'll get into specifics later in my review. For now I'll say that the best parts of this version of the game over the original is the additional story and character moments that weren't in the original and the improved combat system that feels like a mix between The Last of Us melee with RE2 Remake shooting. My biggest gripe is that the big story and character moments don't hit as hard as the original. This is going to be a lot of people's only exposure to SH2 and I'm glad that I can say that that is okay with me. It doesn't replace the original for me but it understands what SH2 is and that's good enough for me.
SPOILER NIT-PICKY SECTION

Posit...

The atmosphere is great and the mystery is intriguing. The gameplay loop of exploration, puzzles and the primitive combat system isn't fun enough to keep the game fun for the entire runtime. The game is simply too long and apparently the original was just about half the length of the remake. Performance of the game is atrocious and some visual elements look awful (hair shadows).

Game stutters a lot and i've run into multiple bugs where i get stuck on top of enemies or in walls. Game is beautiful and could be wonderful if they'd do simple optimizations.

Big eh. I never grew up with Silent Hill, so the nostalgia doesn't hide the repetitive and unvaried gameplay and tedious combat encounters. It's tense, looks great, and very stable... but if psychological horror isn't your thing, it might overstay its welcome.

good game but a patch since launch has caused the game to stutter indefinitely, not to mention the crashing. want to love it so bad but UE5 ruins it.
