Not a bad game, but... -Biggest flaw in game is that weapon stats are way too simplified/streamlined. Many weapons have no difference on any stats and that makes selection kinda meaningles, also by -44 I've managed to get so many FG42 that STG44 was pretty much obsolete when it came around in my game, didn't see any reason to use them. -What's with Browning and Bren MK2? I almost never hit a target with those, even on close range! and where the hell is MG34 and MG42? It's year 44 and haven't seen one, like they don't even exist! Instead got a truckload rather rare FG42 etc. -Where is Thompson SMG? Should be on US. support packages, never seen one, same with M3 "grease gun", seen only one in german camp loot. -Alarm system is kinda weak, was hoping see similar system some games in genre have, that one enemy alarmed don't mean necessarily all enemy on the map is alarmed, unless they all are quite close to each other or shots are fired from loud gun or enemy manage to make alarm (act...

About This Game
Forgotten but Unbroken offers a unique perspective on the WWII turn-based strategy genre. Inspired by real stories and events, the game introduces fresh mechanics never before seen in the genre. Players will experience defense missions, historical characters, and unique "micro" features based on reality. From the special abilities granted by wearables to the absence of magical healing, "Forgotten but Unbroken" provides a realistic and immersive gameplay experience.
Elite enemy units, such as the feared SS troops, are designed to spread fear among players, affecting their aiming and overall performance.
Additionally, the game allows players to forge strong relationships with allies, who may send elite soldiers to assist in battle for a limited time, adding a strategic layer to gameplay.
Deep and Complex Experience
Forgotten but Unbroken delivers a deep and complex gameplay experience by intertwining historical events with personal narratives. Players will encounter a newspaper feature that reports on real events from WWII, such as the Battle of Kursk or the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich. These global events are presented alongside the personal story of the main character, Commander Martin, whose life is profoundly impacted by the events of the war. This dual narrative approach not only provides players with a rich historical context but also immerses them in the emotional journey of the main character.
Real Protagonists of WWII
The game features real characters of WWII, carefully & respectfully selected for their legacies. Players have the opportunity to meet and interact with these protagonists for a limited time during the game, adding a layer of authenticity and reverence to the gameplay experience.
Soldier Management
The game features six classes of soldiers, each with unique abilities and perks. Players can customize their soldiers and manage their traits, which affect their performance in battle. Traits such as "Iron Will" can significantly impact a soldier's morale, while physical traits like "Sickly" can affect their disease susceptibility.
Base Management
Base management is a crucial aspect, allowing players to heal, train, and maintain the morale of their troops. Structures such as hospitals and armories can be built to improve various aspects of the base and troops. Additionally, players must consider factors such as weather and disease, which can impact the effectiveness of their base and troops.
Region and Campaign
Forgotten but Unbroken is set primarily in central Europe, with a focus on Czechoslovakia. This region's strategic importance during WWII makes it an ideal setting for the game, as players will navigate the complex political and military landscape of the era.
Diplomacy/Politics
Forgotten but Unbroken incorporates a diplomacy and politics system that allows players to impress allies through successful missions, thereby increasing support. Relations with allies can impact the type and level of support they provide, adding a strategic element to player decisions.

User Reviews
Forgotten but Unbroken sounded cool on paper, but playing it was kind of a letdown. The combat’s slow and clunky, and the base stuff just feels like busywork. You’re stuck chopping wood and cooking soup way more than actually doing anything tactical. Let us hunt Nazis! The story tries to be deep, but it’s mostly told through dry newspaper clippings and characters you won’t remember. Graphics are meh, and the whole thing feels dated. The voice acting is okay but ruined by some cringe writing. What really threw me off was the gear. No classic WWII weapons like the M1 Garand or Lee-Enfield or maybe I haven't found them yet, and when you ask for supplies from the U.S. or Britain, you get random junk that doesn’t even make sense. Why is the US sending me British weapons and gear when I just want Thompsons, Garands, and M1 Carbines. And the British are sending soviet, Czech, Polish and resistance gear. It totally kills the vibe. This is not a finished product and needs mod tools...
Great turn based tactical game with interesting base building mechanics. Stealth gameplay is very satisfying!
From a technical perspective the game seems to run fine so far, and I enjoyed the first missions, did some re-play to try different things and getting used to the mechanics (I love the Horvath mission :-) ). However, I still decided to stop playing the game. Some things like the base management are a pain. How to un-jamm a gun when you're back at the base? Pressing "u" in the character sheet where you see the jammed gun doesn't work. Is it only possible after entering a new mission with a jammed gun? Do you need an armory or a gunsmith? Back in the old days of computer gaming providing a manual was just a good standard, today it seems that this job is left to some guys posting YouTube vids. I want to play a game, I do not want to guess how it's done. Spend some efforts. Some of the translations are inaccurate or weird, but this is sometimes also funny, so I don't really complain ;-)
This game has potential in the future. But now I can't really recommend it. The game still feel very early access. Especially the combat system seem kinda wrong. I hate it when the German soldier just hide in cover and shoot your soldiers but you can't shoot back not even the overwatch work in this kind of situation even thought it should work. The stealth system is also bad! The enemies can see you through cover which is ridiculous.
First impression great, I like the WW2 atmosphere and also that it has controller support
So, as a history enthusiast, I was excited for this game also because I’m Slovak and part of the story takes place in my homeland. The game itself tries to combine tactical battles with base management, which I think is a great idea, although at first I had quite a bit of trouble figuring out what to build, what to do, and just generally how things work. However, the game is accompanied by various hints, so a more experienced gamer shouldn’t have problems finding their way around. I understand that the UX might feel a bit confusing for younger generations of players, but you get used to it after a while—it’s just a matter of habit. The graphics may feel a bit outdated by today’s standards, but together with the UI they help create the atmosphere of old-school games, which I absolutely love because it brings me back to the nostalgia of my childhood. I also appreciate the developers’ effort to keep improving the game and I’m looking forward to the next content.
Good job. Every battle feels intense, challenging missions, and strategic depth that rewards careful planning. The attention to detail in units and environments makes each encounter immersive, offering both tension and satisfaction for strategy fans. The game’s difficulty really pushes you to think several steps ahead, but I like the challenge so its my cup of coffee.
What really makes this game stand out for me is the mix of tough tactical missions and the base camp management in between. It’s definitely not your typical WWII strategy game. I like that it’s genuinely challenging instead of holding your hand. The combat makes you slow down and think because one slip-up can ruin the mission, while the stealth really pays off if you play smart. There were a few buggy moments here and there, but nothing that ruined the experience.
Have gotten past the first winter so far and though I have experienced couple janky moments, I do appreciate the different take on the genre. Not sure if worth the full price yet but 100% recommend giving it a shot especially if grabbed on sale.
