About the Game

Shoot and blast your way through mysterious mazes in Maze Blaze, a roguelike action shooter that’s intense both in color and gameplay. The goal is simple - enter the maze and gun down anything that stands between you and the exit. Your objective may always be the same but everything else is endlessly changing.

Each maze is a procedurally generated level where the enemies, items, and the maze’s layout itself is random. Not a single corner you turn will be the same as the last time you entered. Progressively tougher robots will try to take you out once you enter their proximity so you better be ready to shoot first and ask questions later. Modifiers scattered around each maze will augment your abilities and shots. Each pick-up presents a unique choice that’ll define your play style.

Features:

An Endless Maze of Possibilities - The gameplay is simple but the depth can be as complex as you want. Randomly generated mazes, enemies, and items make every playthrough its own, unexpected experience.

Play Your Way - Clearing levels and bosses, or fight through endless waves of mazes. On your own or with a friend. How you play is your own choice.

A Spectacle of Color - Take in a hyper-stylized, neon-color emblazoned Roguelike experience with captivating visuals that are stunning to look at yet never feel too overwhelming.

Isometric throwback type game play that seems like the old games of Xybots and Robotron combined. As you traverse the map, you pick up powerup that can assist in multiple ways (i.e. more powerful attacks, better shields, etc). The graphics are adequate for the game, but may not shine if you play on a large screen or TV. I played this title using my Steam Deck with GE Proton. It seemed to crash using default Proton. The let down of the game is the attach implementation. This is not a twin-stick shooter. Shooting is only in the direction of walking. If you need to shoot another direction you have to use the player movement to turn that way and fire. You end up using the speed run option to run away from enemies so you can turn around and fire at them. It's very old school and doesn't really fit with today's gaming style. Simply adjusting the attach implementation to support twin-stick operation will make this a definition recommendation.

Cool concept, nice visual and music. The game has some interesting upgrade pickups to change the loop a bit, but is missing variation in the maze and diversity of weapons to keeps me coming back and for that price. I think I would enjoy it more with twinstick controls for the aim with a controller instead of the old arcade press L and now you can aim but can't move.

// Maze Blaze Game is very polished. I wish I could give this game a rating, becuase it would be 5 out of 5 stars. Super cool and fun game to play with others. It seems to be two player only, Keyboard or Controller. Works with Xbox One Core, and 8BitDo Pro 2. Local Couch Coop, Isometric, Top Down, Twin Stick (although twin stick can be turned off if desired) -- and everrything is AI Randomly (Procedurally) Generated! No games will ever be the same. It is 4K, but it's not the best 4K (but definitely better than HD). When the players are close, they share the entire screen; as they separate -- IT'S THE COOLEST SPLIT SCREEN I'VE EVER SEEN. NO SPOILER, YOU'LL HAVE TO SEE FOR YOURSELF.
