I’m 46, been gaming since the Atari/NES days, and I live with a chronic illness that makes energy and focus a rare commodity. Some days, even booting up a game feels like climbing Everest. But Spirit City: Lofi Sessions? This little gem meets me where I am and gently nudges me forward. It’s not a game in the traditional sense. No boss fights, no QTE's, no pressure. Just a cozy room, a very nice selection of chill lofi beats, and a bunch of adorable spirit creatures that feel like emotional support animals in pixel form. You set your real-life tasks; whether it’s taking meds, stretching, or just drinking water, and the game rewards you with XP, decorations, and new spirits. It’s gamified self-care, and it works. I’ve found myself looking forward to my daily sessions. I light the virtual fireplace, turn on the rain sounds, and journal for a few minutes. Sometimes I just sit and breathe. Possibly the cutest idler game ever. As someone with diagnosed ADHD who chooses not to take adderall for it, I struggle a lot with keeping up with my chores, and with the things I'd like to do. This is a game that puts you on task and reminds you to do things- There's a journal with different prompts, a stopwatch (also plans your breaks for you), a timer, and a schedule, and rewards you for completing your daily tasks. You can set your character to do lil things around your fully customizable home, like gaming at your desk, or knitting by the fire- As you do certain tasks during certain times of the day you earn cute little creatures who can hangout with you. I officially graduated, and I’m so proud to say that Spirit City: Lofi Sessions on Steam really helped me through my journey. The cozy, focus-driven vibes kept me calm and motivated during stressful times, and on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, I gave my final presentation and did really well. The best part is that I unlocked the last achievement in the game right before my presentation, which felt like the perfect send-off. I honestly recommend Spirit City: Lofi Sessions to anyone who needs a relaxing space to study, work, or just stay grounded during big moments in life.

Very disappointing news, they're removing every last song and replacing it. Worst of all, their answer is to listen to youtube/spotify ads to hear the songs that were originally included. --- Update: The music is here to stay... for now. It's been renewed for 3yr, but thats just kicking the can down the road. They talk about the trust they've built being easily undone. yeah that will happen when you plan to delete something people loved. They claim these as false accusations, but lets break it down. -Deceptive: Homework Radio was advertised on the page and trailer, nowhere did it state it was temporary, and its completely unreasonable to expect it to be. They have removed this branding but you can still see it using Wayback. -Selling out: selling your company (part or whole) and having the product change drastically because of it. -Acting in bad faith: Same as being deceptive. They claim to work with the community at heart, but do they really think this is what we wanted. They try to...

The developer of this was bought out and the new owners have decided to remove content [b][i]we all paid for[/i][/b] rather than license the impacted music tracks from a competitor. That's just lame, all the damage control excuses being made really don't cut it so have fun with the negative review guys, you earned it.

Super disappointed to hear about the Lofi Girl buyout and removal of all songs. This was a nice cozy space and a relaxing little escape, and I am disgusted to see another nice indy thing get stomped into oblivion by a large company. I wholeheartedly recommended this game in the past, but will not moving forward.

Very saddened by the buyout. I used this a lot before, but I don't think I'm going to come back to it (nor recommend it to others) now that all the music I liked is getting so suddenly taken out and replaced with something else. Feels like a betrayal, if I'm being honest :(

Just heard that this game sold out... Way to go and betray the people that supported this. Apparently, it was a lot to do with the music, that is now no more... You could have had something truly remarkable had you the patience to actually pursue it with your emerging fans. Instead you elect to "pump and dump". No one will ever buy any of your games again, so enjoy your quick cash.

I was banned from the forums for very RESPECTFULLY disagreeing with their decisions. Transparent teams don't need to silence every dissenting voice. You loooooove that community as long as they're yes anding everything. I think I was completely right about Mooncube games, congrats on the sellout despite what Lofi Girl says. To the developers: My "history" on the forums is a player slowly gaining more and more frustration with more and more unclear posts while still remaining respectful. Dissent is not disrespect, it is not PERSONAL attacks, it is a frustration with your CHOICES. You also deleted some of my posts, so referencing people to go "see what I mean" is a bit of crafting your own narrative babe.

Overwhelmingly Positive reviews for this game is realistic. It is good, however, about 3 months ago, maybe more, the devs invited customer feedback about their plans to turn this app into a marketplace for their cash shop, or however they put it. I told them at the time that I'd be giving them a thumbsdown if they went that route, and here's making good on that promise. It's a sign of the times that we can't have nice things. This app is cool. You create a character and he or she mooches about their bedroom, being productive or skiving off while lo-fi music plays. There is an animal hunting aspect where you can find a hedgehog companion in the fireplace if your avatar spends some chilling by the fire. It was great and I clocked up many hours while I did IRL stuff. I used the journalling function, timers and to-do lists in the game. For a time, it was a great novel way of tackling the daily grind.
