One of the best Classic FPS games, I can't believe this game was released in 2005 with such an advanced AI that even today's games can't offer anything close to it With excellent graphics, especially lighting and physics, it is truly amazing in 2005 and even now, because today's games are lazy and do not provide details.

Top tier golden age classic. 10/10.
Absolute LAG machine for some reason
One of the underrated shooters of the early 2000's. Setting up a good psychological horror story, that sadly found a weird end with the 3rd game of the franchise. F.E.A.R. transports you from dock areas, maintenance shafts to abandoned suburban complexes and the Armacham facilities. The environment itself is really well done. When the bullets start flying, so do the objects in the room, helping with the realistic atmosphere. The enemy AI is surprisingly smart, they can hide very well in cover and also can hit pretty hard if you're not careful. The gunplay is really fun, the weapons are satisfying to use, the slowmotion helps you in tougher situations, and the effects are pretty good for the game's age, every fight leaving its mark on each area. The dust effect tho, after someone shoots at the wall, can be a little bit annoying because of the duration, which makes it like an improvised smoke grenade, lasting pretty long and fogging your vision. The only bug i found, was the FPS one...
Good story, amazing engine (ppl in 2005 were like: WOW!!1!), little scary girl/woman, a few technical bugs (cuz game so old), running and shooting, Max Payne simulator 9/10
Honestly, I really enjoyed it. The plot twists, gameplay, and story are what make this game stand out. The mix of a first-person shooter with paranormal horror is something pretty unique, and this was actually the first game of that kind I ever played. I definitely recommend it if you’re into shooters and paranormal stuff—I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did, maybe even more.
The AI, weapon mechanics, the graphics (according to a game that released in 2005), the puzzles, physics and shortly everything was awesome. I would highly recommend anyone playing this. Oh also install EchoPatch by Wemino before playing in order to get performance and issue fixes.
Story is decent, gameplay is amazing. Pretty much all the guns are fun to use and the enemy AI is better than basically any game today. On modern hardware this game will run horribly, but there is a file on the steam community that you can download that fixes it perfectly, never had a single frame issue after that. This is the file the steam post links you to for the fix. https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/789-directinput-fps-fix/
F.E.A.R. came out at a time when horror games and horror elements bleeding into other genres of games had reached their respective peaks in the mainstream; this was thanks to the Resident Evil/Biohazard series and Silent Hill series both gaining huge influence, and the console FPS Halo: Combat Evolved adding horror elements to its eclectic mix of sci-fi first-person shooter game play. Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 would both increase narrative-driven game play, suspense, and horror elements within the genre using in-game storytelling as opposed to cut-scenes, even if the latter was seen years later as an unfavorable departure from its roots. F.E.A.R. was the next step in this evolution, one that would culminate in games like Bioshock or Dead Space in the coming years, and one that did something no other series blending action and horror would quite achieve using clever combat loops. That thing was add militaristic tactical gun play to the horror mix alongside then-trending "bullet time" slow-...
