About This Game

The Ramsey is a 2D platformer with cute squirrel characters living on a planet comprised of six huge islands. Players can explore various areas by solving mazes and puzzles using the Cotton Gun, a special weapon wielded by the playable squirrel Ramsey that makes objects float in the air. Ramsey came to Earth aboard a Space Running Wheel from the faraway planet of Chipmars, and now shares tales of his adventures back home with his hamster friend, Cheese. Climate change caused by the greed of the evil inventor rendered all of Chipmars near inhospitable to the native rodent population. Find out how Ramsey fought this catastrophe, and why he came to Earth.

- A 2D platformer with exploration and solving puzzles using various weapons.

- Unique gameplay utilizing the state-of-the-art Cotton Gun from Chipmars.

Normally I wouldn't write a review unless I put more time in it, but I feel bad for this game. Steam will bury this game without reviews so I want to give something. I played the demo and really enjoyed it. So based on the little bit time in both the demo and full game, the game is fun. I really don't know why this game hasn't gotten single English review. I know it's a Korean studio so maybe their didn't market it outside of Korea, but it's a polished platformer. Again, can only speak for the beginning, but it controls well, looks great, and has full voice acting (Korean only, but that's still more than most pixel art games). HOWEVER, this might be a me thing, but my controller didn't work. The demo had full controller support and it worked fine. But in the full release, can't get it to work. It works on my other games, but not this one. Also the keyboard button remapping is bugged and that was annoying. Edit: I fixed the controller problem. It was me. Still recommend the main gam...

This game has a lot of charm, polish, and extremely fun. Not super challenging (even on hard mode), but the puzzles are a lot of fun to solve. It's a shame that this game has virtually no coverage at this moment in time. I completely forgot how this game meandered into my wish list, but I'm glad I did. Presentation wise, the pixel art graphics are very well done and the music is great (I would be appreciative if I had the ability to attain this soundtrack in some form or another). The plot is simple, but has served well to move the game forward. Questing - or completing goals and side tasks - is fun. The puzzles are intuitive and work well with the gun mechanics creating fluidity - The game definitely feels setup for speed runners. The cotton gun is a pretty nifty mechanic as you will be finding modifications for the gun that allow you to get to different areas of the map - in the tradition of a metroidvania. The first power you get - which is just standard cotton - is the movement...

A fine platformer, it's challenging and it controls alright The challenges feel fair and adjusted to the controls, so there's no real frustration there! The game looks adorable, and the voice acting sounds good (eventhough i don't know Korean, it sitll sounds like good voice actors) It's short (took me around 2,9 hours to beat on hard mode with 100% on all maps and items,), but the music and level design is nice, and the story is alright. Attempting the achievements with no health upgrades and no invententions where fun plays, and didn't feel unfair or too punishing. Overal a fun game i enjoyed playing!

Came for the metroidvania, left because of the puzzle platformer which is not a genre I am fond of. The game seems quite competent as both of these things. Rather than one big interconnected map you have multiple levels that you backtrack between. The exaggerated japanese anime voice acting was irritating (as well as the dialogue) but you can skip through it. It's just that every NPC has some dumb quest they want you to do and starts talking, and these guys are everywhere. ..You can ignore it and the game marks your objectives on your maps which is very helpful. Music in the first 3 areas was "fine" but also didn't do much to draw me in. I wasn't finding the puzzle platforming even that difficult, though some of it will challenge some people, I just don't enjoy it.

This game is the definition of a hidden gem. Deserved FAR more attention than it got.

A solid platformer. Nothing mind blowing, but well executed. I particularly liked the art and music. Seems to be getting buried by other releases. I hope more people give it a go.

Absolute hidden gem, a contender for the best exploration puzzle platformer I've played on Steam, and almost definitely the best controlling. The popcorn gun is a brilliantly fresh mechanic for getting around and crazy fun to use. There's also a big emphasis on the puzzle part of the puzzle platforming even if it doesn't look like it. I played on the medium difficulty (which it calls "hard"), and I don't know what's different on easy or extra hard, but anytime I ran into something that seemed especially difficult, it was always a case of "just stop and think about it" rather than "get gud." When a boss or a bit of platforming seems too difficult, it's because there's an easier way you could be doing it rather than you just needing better luck or reflexes. The last boss is an absolute bastard if you try and play reactively dodging and shooting at all the crazy shit flying at you, but if you take a few rounds to figure out how it works you'll pretty quickly get to know how to ace ...

Short but sweet, with competent design choices and a cool soundtrack. Puzzles are generally simple but with a couple of interesting twists. Character designs are cute and well-animated. Map exploration is well done but not likely to challenge most metroidvania players. Only misstep in my opinion is locking players out of finishing up any exploration if they beat the final boss as the game saves you in the post-game state where pretty much all you can do is view the credits — unless there was something I missed.

The Ramsey was a title that I decided to take a chance on during a Steam Sale and am really glad that I did. Simply put, it's wholesome fun that players of all ages and skill levels can enjoy. The storytelling is done in a pretty unique way, and without giving anything about the game away, surprised me in setting up for a sequel which I am seriously looking forward to once the dev decides it's time to begin work on it. A colorful game world, upbeat soundtrack and most importantly responsive, smooth controls are all present here. Ramsey is platforming at it's finest and while there is definitely some challenge present, it's nothing that would be a roadblock to anyone regardless of their skill level. Definitely pick this one up, you'll be glad that you did!

A very charming game. Great art direction, tight controls and a simple story. A perfect introduction to a metroidvania style gameplay for new players.
