PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo

How far would you go to bring someone back from the dead?
In Japan, whispers surround the tale of the "Seven Mysteries of Honjo."
A mysterious 'Rite of Resurrection' leads to conflict between those who have the power to curse...

This unsettling tale takes place in the Sumida Ward of Tokyo, Japan, in the late 20th century.
Unravel the hopes, dreams and fears of these unique characters who find themselves in the grip of deadly curses, as their motivations intertwine in a story that twists and turns.
Lead the story to its conclusion by your own hand!

Shogo Okiie, an ordinary office worker, visits Kinshibori Park in the dead of night with his friend, Yoko Fukunaga, to investigate a well-known local ghost story: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo.
Shogo doesn’t quite believe Yoko when she talks about how the Mysteries are connected to the Rite of Resurrection and doesn't pay it much mind - that is, until strange events begin to unfold before his very eyes.
Meanwhile, several others are making their own investigations into The Seven Mysteries...
Detectives investigating a series of strange deaths, a high-school girl seeking the truth behind her classmate’s suicide, and a mother who has sworn revenge for her lost son.
Their desires and motives intertwine and interplay, with the Seven Mysteries of Honjo at the core, leading the story towards a battle of wits and curses.

◆ Conduct investigations in Showa Japan; depicted through immersive, ambient 360 backgrounds.
With the full support and cooperation of Sumida City Tourism Division, the local museum, the tourist association, and the local community, real-life scenery from Sumida has been photographed with a 360° camera and recreated as photo spheres that cover the entire sky and surroundings.

◆ Unravel the mysteries of Honjo through investigation and conversations with many interesting - and suspicious - characters.

◆ Be sure to pick up all crucial clues, and choose your movements carefully - or you may just meet your demise!

◆ Explore a story that twists and turns through multiple points of view and find ways to reveal new pieces of information.

◆ Navigate strategic gameplay and choose to either deploy your curses at the opportune moment, or risk being cursed yourself.
STORY
It’s a very good game with mysteries and curses, and it isn’t scary at all; maybe only a few jump scares. Maybe it’s just me, but when I’m playing as Shogo Okiie and kill someone, the way the camera turns and the expression on his face lowkey reminds me of Light Yagami, lol.
PROS
- Autosave features + your own save slots - Game charts: You can go back and click on certain episodes to replay scenes. -Unlimited retries after death: I’d suggest dying on purpose before outsmarting opponents to get achievements (there are different achievements for dying in different situations). - Great art style
CONS
- No voice acting: It would be far better if we could hear the characters speak. - Repetitive clicking: You have to click on certain things repeatedly to trigger new dialogue or files. - Backlog navigation: You must open the menu to read backlogs instead of just scrolling up with the mouse. - No skip function for read text: If you need t...

A well made horror VN that doesn't overstay it's welcome. My only issue with it was the lack of voice acting. All the chars were flapping their mouths and made no sound. (It was originally a Nintendo game, they aren't known for voice acting) It doesn't throw wall of texts at you, it's all presented in a very digestable way. It's mainly through character dialogues and a few notes. The gameplay wasn't deep, but it's a nice touch that they made it an interactive vn. You can see 360 degrees of most environments.

pretty short game if you are not aiming for all the collectibles (which I wasn't). The artstyle and music were really good. I do wish there were character voices though. Overall the first like 90% of the game with the actual world building, character development, and actual mystery solving are really strong. But, like what others have said, It completely fumbles the ending, and it doesn't feel nearly satisfying enough for the time put in to play.

By far my all time favorite visual novel. A shame this is not getting a sequel (manga only it seems). It is a must buy on all fronts. The story, characters and atmosphere are the best I've experienced in this type of game. I really hope Square revives this at some point.

The 360 POV mechanic gets a surprising amount of mileage. There are some really great ideas here, the story just meanders a lot during the daytime portion where you basically kill all momentum the story had thanks to its story mechanics. WHICH, I do wish we got to see/use more of. Still, even if it flounders this is a solid game worth your time if you're looking for titles in the genre you've not tried.

Relatively short but a perfect visual novel to pass the weekend. I actually like its length and enjoyed the ending, which appears at a good point imo. I actually like most of the characters and am so happy about some
Jojo
reference XD. The plot is also decent. Wish there'll be more sequels! Would love it if they added at least the bare minimum of the dub, like in Ace Attorney. Btw I played in Chinese but still feel the lore is a bit heavy, which require quite some patient reading. Luckily that I don't have to play it in EN ^^"
