I really like the gameplay and the interesting mechanics, and would love to see the complete experience. Right now however, it's ~half an hour of gameplay if you explore the map, which alot of people would consider short for the price

About This Game
OIC: Obviously Inappropriate Content is a story-rich adventure game sets in a fictional Eastern-bloc country, where the player, as a game tester, must censor a developing game under government regulation. Developed by Shuaiying 'Shane' Hou with inspiration from 'Papers, Please', 'Metal Slug', and real-life experience, OIC explores the origins and development of video game censorship, and how it might affect the video game industry and our society.
OIC is trying to explore the issue of game censorship through story-telling, while not making it too preachy to people. The game attempts to bind different game mechanics/story-telling techniques together to serve the narrative and create a unique atmosphere of a fictional historical idea that The Soviet Union still existed in 2008.

User Reviews
The concept of the game is unique: You live in a authoritarian country, play as a censor and censoring a developing game. You need to handle pressures from your boss, play through the actual game - a top-down retro RPG and trying to find out the naughty stuffs the government dont want people to see. What makes the game stands out is, the choices you make in the retro RPG could affect the story on a broader scale. For example, if you choose to be a bad guy, then your boss will question if the game trying to say its okay to be a bad guy, and order the developer to remove or change the dialogue. The idea is executed in a coherent way and you certainly would feel every pieces is being nicely put together. Apart from the humor and light hearted graphic, the core of the story is serious: censorship. As you might have already heard of, there are still governments in real world not only censor the games, but all types of media. I can see the influence from Papers, please, but instead OIC use...
10/10
For the first time, I had to refund a game. It had too many technical issues to play. Which is too bad. I think that the game has a great concept and, if issues can be patched, I will definitely repurchase it. As it is, I would wait for an update (As of May 10, 2024).
