About This Game

In a vast, inhospitable alien world, you are the expendable. Cloned from DNA for a single purpose: to test the most devastating, over-the-top, and downright absurd weaponry known to the galaxy. Welcome to NIMRODS, the ultimate survival roguelite shooter where the guns you craft are the legacy you leave.

Beyond Survival

Experience the innovative roguelite where your previous gun builds aren't just memories—they're your backup! Deploy guns crafted from past runs in drones to assist the next grunt. Every run is a story, but each gun is a heroic saga.

Boundless Exploration

Embark on a journey through diverse alien biomes, each meticulously molded by a distinct set of enemies and bosses. Every corner is teeming with specialized encounters and valuable resources to discover.

Assemble the Unthinkable

Break the game with your creativity. Collect insane weapon parts from airdrops and craft combinations so powerful, so bizarre, they have to be seen to be believed. Create your dream weapon, or a nightmarish contraption that defies all laws of physics and common sense.

Bio-Engineer your Evolution

Delve into unique progression systems where DNA modifications can evolve your future clones. Tailor your abilities and your drone's AI to complement your playstyle, and optimize your upgrade drops for pivotal enhancements.

Guns Over Glory

As the corporate overlords watch from above, you're constantly faced with hordes of relentless aliens. Complete insane missions, stack bodies, and remember: you probably won’t make it, but your guns definitely will.

Need to increase speed at which your character levels up/gets meta upgrades or decrease the ramp up of difficulty. I've spent hours and hours in this game and still have most runs end around 10mins. There are a lot of things I like. Exploring the map to get unlocks, fighting special bosses to unlock characters or stations in your base. There are a lot of reasons to keep coming back. As it is, I feel obligated to go for the same OP upgrades every time or my runs ends after a short time. Hopefully the devs realize that grinding is not where the fun comes from. Build variety and that feeling of being completely overpowered is what gives these games massive replayability. I'm gonna take a break and hope the devs make some changes as they continue to work on the game.

The game is fun ... for the first few runs, but once you start unlocking stuff and surviving longer the fun ends and the lag fest begins. That devs said in January that they were aware of the performance issues, it's August now and still the game freezes when there's too much in the screen, the weird part is that while the game is down to a crawl (1-4 fps) both GPU and CPU are at less than 50% load, that tells me its either a coding problem or an engine problem. This seems to be a recurring problem with most of this bullet heaven games, they are made with shitty engines that can't manage it.

After about 30-minutes of gameplay, I thought this was another Vampire Survivors clone. After another 30-minutes, I realized this game has a lot more going for it than what meets the eye. Meta progression is incredibly fun. I don't typically find myself enjoying gun-based survivors-likes, but I'm really enjoying this one. The game has a huge exploration factor to it that most other survivors-likes do not typically have. I'm very much looking forward to this game's continued development

Edit: There are two settings I previously missed that allow you to turn explosion and bullet opacity down. Do it. They help out A LOT. Problem solved, it's a great game. This is genuinely a really fun twist on the Vampire Survivors / Enter the Gungeon style game. It has a lot of potential and I've enjoyed the time I've played it. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it as it's very poorly optimized and even with a quality computer, you're system will be bogged down toward the end of a run. Certain builds will absolutely cut your frames per second down to less than 1. It's pretty disappointing and significantly detracts from the entertainment value when the final boss is somewhere on your screen but you can't tell because your game appears frozen for five seconds for every half second of game play.

Some great concepts and it plays smoothly, but as of writing this review there isn't enough content to keep you engaged for a long period. Suggest waiting until full release as I'm sure it will be great by then.

No. Grindy and repetitive, even for the genre. Lacks build diversity. Prone to having so many things onscreen it becomes difficult to see and play, or even crashes. Minimizing the projectile opacity slider helps but does not completely solve the issue.

Fun game to kill some time with, but the balance is completely and utterly out of wack. I didn't want to give this game a thumbs down, at least not without pushing a little further before passing judgement. Now, after several more hours, the furthest I have gotten so far is level 50-something, maybe two or three times, and every good run (40+) almost ALWAYS ends with the game suddenly spawning enemies around me on the screen, practically right on top of me, and so many of them with tons of health, to just straight up brute force kill me. I'm calling this total bulls**t. See GIF below. 20 seconds condensed down into 4. I tried another two runs, and I just can't seem to get to 60. No matter what, this is eventually what happens (I couldn't get it all in there): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3541453185 You start off with a lvl 1 weapon every time. Most of the weapons are straight up bad until you get certain augments. My best runs so far were all done with the ...

Actually a nice variation on the survivors-like sub-genre.

dawg i lowkey pirated it and it was such a good game i had to buy it to support the devs. like this is imo the best game ive played thats came out in the past few years, it seems to be devs who actually care and want to make a product that people like not just put out a game for money. the game just needs more time to have more added to it only took about 2-3 days to fully beat it but was a damn fun time
