A timed death mechanic in an escape room video game is not fun. At least provide an option to turn it off. Honestly if I knew about that I wouldn't have made the purchase.

tldr: just want a gameplay video? its below the review. Time Mechanic is a not an issue! please read this explanation of it You have 12 minutes to solve puzzles to get keys for the clock. Time only counts down while you are moving. Stand and stare as long as you want! Use the key on the little slot under each number on the big clock; each key will reset the 12 minute timer (12 keys total) and each key use on the clock acts as a save point. This is important as you can save yourself a lot of time and effort by saving after finishing big puzzle sections. When time runs out you reset to the last time you used the previous key with every puzzle being the way you left it at the time of saving. With all of this you won't have to fear the timer! This is quite frankly one of the best puzzle games I have played. I had used 8 pages of "4x6" sticky notes while trying to figure out how to solve the later puzzles. The puzzles here will have you thinking outside the box...
Die O'Clock is an excellent escape room puzzle game with some light horror elements. The puzzles were high quality, very challenging and enjoyable to solve. I streamed the game to a group of friends and it was a lot of fun to work together to figure out each puzzle. Highly recommended!
The death mechanic is obnoxious. You have to remember the solution to each puzzle to pick up the clues you had in your hand when you ran out of time.
This is a fine escape room game. The puzzles are challenging. The count-down time mechanism is initially a bit irritating but it is original and adds to the suspense of the game. I'd recommend giving this game a go.
The atmosphere and style is like a steampunk noir with all the clocks and heck is it a lot of atmosphere. the darkness feels heavy and the sounds are heckin neato. The puzzles are pretty awesome and not too hard to get through. the wood puzzle would have killed me had a developer not jumped in the stream and helped me out. :P BUT no worries to those stressed about difficult puzzles they DO have hints. With the spooky vibes and the way you progress with the constant ticking letting you know your time is nearing an end, this game is great for fans of the Room with a bit of Phasmophobia scariness. All in all so far I am really enjoying it and the devs are nice too :)
This was fun! A good variety of puzzles. I had to break out pen & paper a couple times, and one puzzle almost had me stumped, but I pushed through and finished without hints and with about 8 deaths. The timed death system makes you consider every movement you make, but it's not bad like the other reviewer said. There's an in-game checkpoint system (
putting keys in the clock
) and you only lose progress if you don't use those checkpoints. Tip: There's no bonus for using fewer checkpoints. Price-wise, it feels like it should be more around the $10 mark to match other games in the genre. At that price I'd recommend it for escape room enthusiasts.
