The plan was simple - the ship would wake you from your cryocapsule before you arrived at a potential new home. A planet for humanity to start a new life on. But when you awaken, you are already on the ground amongst the wreckage of your ship with no one else in sight. Stranded and surrounded only by debris, you start your journey under an unfamiliar sky.
The planet has a breathable atmosphere, which is a good start. Surprisingly, the area is already filled with a lush flora and fauna — some of which seem familiar, others completely alien. A few of the old seedlings from Earth must have survived the crash somehow, building a new kind of ecosystem.
What happened to the ship? How long have you been frozen in cryo since your arrival? You don't have the answers, but...for now, you have more pressing concerns.

Totally love this game for the following reasons (in ascending relevance). 1. It is my sort of genre and this game scratches the itch perfectly. 2. You can play the game *as you like* from punishing to just chilling out on a tropical island. 3. The graphics and systems are great. 4. It plays flawlessly in VR (using UEVR and no tinkering needed). This transforms a good game into a totally immersive experience as you are now *on* the island - and the really nice graphics now become stunning. At this point in time, this game is (for me) the best survival game you can play in VR. So, this review is defiantly slated to the solid VR experience - that said, I have been playing flat also and it is still a great game/experience whichever way you decide to play. [Note, I had some initial problems regarding the control scheme - BUT this was my fault, as I was trying to map a rather niche controller and get the controller working well in VR. I was a little unsure about this game, but it's been really fun. You do have to grind quite a bit, but I honestly felt it was relaxing. You need to make sure to explore every island, and every inch of the island to find all the hidden loot. The only negative is the building is a little expensive as far as resources go, but I really enjoyed playing!
Ideal for those who like to explore, as there are very few leaflets or instructions, so it takes a long time to play, but it is worth the price.
I'm loving the game so far! A couple of things that I might suggest that would be helpful, because resources can be difficult to get, is to have the ability to extinguish campfires and forges and to have the torch be brighter. Even pointing it directly at the ground inside a cave, I couldn't see where I was going. Other than that, I'm loving it!
This game has had some serious changes do to it since it first came out and still more to come. If you liked stranded deep then Under a New Sun will be the game for you as they are similar but this game has a sci-fi twist to it. It has a few bug yet to work out but still having fun.
Glitchy. Nauseating. Things disappear when placed on sand 1 out of 10 times
