The main plot is a meandering nothingburger that leaves pretty much everyone back where they started. As a consequence of the game desperately trying to relive the glory of Nanba's arc from 7, Ichiban feels like a gullible moron that brute force forgives everyone until they turn out to be a good guy. Nearly everything to do with Kiryu is cheap fan service, like having Daigo, Saejima and Majima be in 2 fights to ultimately serve no plot purpose. The side content forced onto you is exceptionally egregious, as, unlike in previous entries, it has absolutely 0 relevance to the overall story. It is a shame, because the gameplay and certain bits of the story are actually good, but considering everything else it's just not worth it.

⭐️ 8.25/10 ⭐️ Reader if you think you can jump into these games without playing Yakuza, I'd reconsider. While this game does a great job at giving you quick overviews of who everyone is, it's still insanely confusing (note: this didn't effect my rating as it's my fault). I imagine people who have the complete backstory of Yakuza and all the characters would enjoy this game much more, I regret not spending the time. Pros ✧ The side games were COMPLETE, they weren't half assed by any means nor repetitive. They felt like complete games within this game and, honestly, that's incredible. I found myself wanting to play the Animal Crossing island more than the actual game at times, lmao. ✧ The world design is insane, I was shocked to walk into a sushi restaurant or convenience store and find that the entire place was designed uniquely from the other similar places. This game really sets a standard for what effort looks like. ✧ The classes were challenging to u...

Loads and loads of side content in this one. On top of that, its an IMMENSE upgrade to Like a Dragon in pretty much every way. It feels a lot better to just play overall and when you get to play as Kiryu its just a great nostalgic experience. However it feels like they made Kasuga even more stupid just to make the game longer and the ending is one of the weakest in the series. It just felt really unimportant and the only thing that mattered to me at the end is a minor cliffhanger.

just started the game, so altho ive been at it for 25 hours, ive got 3 things to say. when u set the subs to auto play, the delay between windows is much improved, this gives such a nice experience..., just wish for the 'personal reflect moments' they would have disabled the auto play, or at least delayed it, sometimes the main char reflects on something, and 4 lines of text blur by in 1,5 seconds giving no time to read it... and why cant i change the game difficulty to noob mode (or easy, but i prefer god)

i was really invested in the story and i like the new characters, the gameplay is way better, but the pacing is just horrendous. I understand they give way more stuff to do in this game but wtf. Why is it mandatory do side quests. I just want to experience the main story. I swear the first game did not have these issues, it was moreso balanced. Im literally skipping more often than I am paying attention. This game is filled with way too many substories that you're supposed to go through and continue later. Im not tryna play some animal crossing mini game while I wait for chitose to edit a video. I sadly do not have the patience to keep going especially with like 15 hours already invested.

There are TWO fully fledged games, in this fully fledged game. That's technically THREE games in one. "Minigames", there are two that you could charge 10-20 and would be a feature complete game (Sujimon and Dokoisland). Which is basically ridicolous Pokemon, and Animal Crossing (fully fledged out home, customaziation, etc). That's on top of the regular 70+ hour mainstory game. I highly recommend this game if you liked expedition 33, i played the hell out of that one, they are similiar, but this is more forgiving and more silly. There's tons of minigames (which arguebly could be a full free game on a phone) and they're all fun. I have yet to play the DLC, the pirate DLC looks fun too, everything about this game cares about 1 thing.... is it fun? If no, get rid of it. Okay, this is gonna take me like 200 hours to "review it" properly. If you played Like a Dragon / Yakuza 7, it's that, but more, and the game is more polished with this new system. I know a lot of people comp...

I have a mixed feeling about this game. Pros: +World exploration was fun +Mini games are good +Combat greatly improved from the last game. I wasn't a big fan of it in Like a dragon, but ended up enjoying it here. +Kiryu stuff was amazing +
Seonhee, Zhao and Joon-gi were a real highlight
Cons: -Story is bad. Setup was fine, but it fell apart in a second part of the game and got worse and worse with every chapter.
TBH, Kiryu part of the story is fine, it is Kasuga part which is just awful.
-
Kasuga x Saeko
sub-plot line was the most cringe thing I ever saw. -New character are kind of annoying, with
Chitose
being the worst written character in all Yakuza games. All in all, it is a good game. I just hope they are done with Kasuga as a main protagonist.

Overall, an improvement over the first game featuring our glorious King of Trash (Kasuga Ichiban's name translated into English). Pros: - Same over-the-top silliness and feels trips the Yakuza series is beloved for - More fleshed out combat and job system - Both new and old characters are likeable (except
Chitose
maybe) - Being in Hawaii felt like one of the few times you truly go to a new map in the mainline Yakuza series (No more lazy, recycled, square-shaped renditions of Sotenbori, please) - Side stories felt even more emotional and worthwhile than the first game - Kiryu's story took me on one of the strongest feels trips I've had in gaming Cons: - The one feature I was really hoping for in Infinite Wealth was more specific interaction with jobs and the open world. All we got in the first game was foreman being able to break the occasional wall. There is nothing more in Infinite Wealth - The "games within the games" in the Yakuza series have gotten much wo...

I'll start this out by saying Infinite Wealth is a good game. There's tons of content to do in it, the story is unpredictable and keeps you hooked for the whole game. The minigames and sidestories are as always, fun. However, the ending falls flat and just needed overall more time to play out. There's a lot left that I still want answered in Kiryu's ending. I only say this because there's a pretty big chance Kiryu's story is coming to an end here (if we don't get a Kiryu episode in the next game (like in Kiwami w/ Majima)). Same w/ Ichiban's ending. I just wanted more. More about Akane, more about Lani, and more about the rest of the crew. There's a lot I wish I saw, but didn't get to see. But, it gives me hope for future games. I'd love a standalone game featuring Seon-hee & the rest of the Geomijul. Regardless - I'm excited to finish Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii & start Stranger Than Heaven whenever it releases. RGG truly is a special game studio.
