I hate to say this because I actually really like these kinda games that all seem inspired by the super successful "Vampire Survivors" that launched about a year ago now. ..This game, at least here at its launch, just feels super sloppy and rushed. I kinda wonder if this indie developer or developers behind this were motivated more by seeing dollar signs or actually trying to make a great game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BykRy5UuyNU The game is just not well thought out in my opinion.. You can simple stand still and let hundreds of enemies hit you, and only lose a few seconds of time from a timer that starts at 20 minutes! You demon character is simply a sprite, and though it looks nice enough, there is no animation at all as you move around the screen and it feels like you're just sliding around rather than stomping around kicking ass. - This is what I mean by it feeling "sloppy and rushed". This game today at it's launch gets a first impressions score of just a 4 out o...

About This Game
The people of this land reach out for strength to overthrow their King, and you are the answer! Manifest yourself in their realm, harvest the souls of the fools who dare oppose you, and assemble an arsenal worthy of Hell. Cast down meteors, conjure magic missiles, summon the dead, enlist enchanted blades - all to bring down the King! Fend off the realm's so-called Adventurer's Guild. From Aldric Pureheart, the Leonine Paladin to Selene Starborne, the Star Mage - they are sure to put you to the test, but show them the mettle of Hell.
Keep an eye on your time - while the foolish mortals cannot physically harm you, they can drain the energy with which you manifest yourself. Guard it closely!

I actually like this concept which sucks because I don't like the game. This is not an early access release which means this is a complete game. And for a complete game, there's not enough there. That aside, there are also some baffling design decisions, like for example the end of a run you can either restart or quit to desktop. I get that it's supposed to be arcadey but the sound effects are grating to me. I also think the lack of permanent progression is a bad choice. A lot of this I would forgive if it were an early access release, but for a complete game with no demo I can't in good faith recommend it. I really wish I could. Works well on Steam Deck.
From Hell is a retro arcade/bullet-hell game with it's own charm and flair. The old-school aesthetic and feel is backed by incredibly well-voiced heroes that you'll love (to hate), and the addictive soundtrack is curated to match (I love you Penelope)! I'd like to say that I don't "spit bars", but every time that I kill the king and the victory-jingle plays, it evokes something within me that causes me to freestyle like never before...I wish I was kidding. The weapons all have an impact and are dynamic in their own way... I stress this as I slept on one or two weapons before truly experimenting with builds (even a d4 can bring down a giant)! This is a labour of love from a solo developer, that adds it's own unique spin on the genre--from damage equating to time lost off the clock, to sympathising with Satan and his misunderstood goons...this is a hidden gem worthy of your time (and two bucks)! I guarantee that you'll enjoy it, if you're a fan of retro games, or games like Vampire Surv...
From Hell is a fun, fast paced action rogue-like with some really unique elements. This is not just some Vampire Survivors clone. This is similar in play style, but more consistently paced, better bosses, and some cool art choice. Hail Satan! Ending song is a banger!!!
Sometimes game misleads you. Finding castle is torcher. I hope they will fix this kind of problems
This is a fun game given the price. Ive purchased a few of these types of games now ranging in prices. A recent favorite of mine was Brotato. While this game isnt nearly as slick as that, it was fun to play through and I have unlocked most achievements at this point (there is one left and Im not sure what it is!). I enjoy playing this on flights or when I need to kill a few minutes. I like that the game has a set time limit and that it is fairly short, so its easy to fit a quick run in when I have time. I appreciate the heavy metal music and blasphemous theme. Im down with vibe for sure. Overall, Ive spent a lot more than this on some games and played fewer hours, so overall, a good deal for the price. Worth picking up if you like this style of game.
LOL
Was fun to play for a few hours. Does need updates to keep it current, but I'm not sure it's being invested in.
Vampire Survivors clone. Shallow but amusing for an hour or two. A tiny bit of ok voice work gives it some extra flavor but it seems a poor trade for more in depth game mechanics or, heaven forbid, better graphics. Feels weird, accusing a VS clone of having significantly worse graphics than the original. Oof. A barely solid enough game that I don't regret the cheap purchase but it IS a lower quality knock off, particularly in depth of game play.
