(Follow my curator for more reviews like this) Humanities Legend: Dark Horizon is a substantial improvement upon the developer's first game (which I reviewed here), but still very janky so I'll give the same verdict as I did with its predecessor: get this if you like janky solo dev projects that show promise, stay away if you want a polished product made by professionals. The combat is similar to the first game, but has had a couple of improvements. Parrying no longer works by holding a key down, but pressing it once, so you always have to time your parries. Enemies have two types of heavy attacks, vertical and horizontal, that have to be dodged or jumped over respectively. It's a simple system, but I found the combat mechanics engaging enough to keep me interested until the end. Unlike the first game, you now gain experience for e...

Its a playable souls-like game with a good visuals and okay bgm/sfx. Sample Gameplay: https://youtu.be/muB9z1ZRHCs You can't speed run this game as you won't be able to progress to the next map without clearing your current map, good thing here is you can use the resources you get to level up and buy equipment. My main problem was the target-lock getting locked to monsters I already killed for at least 1-2 seconds before It transfers to another one. Its like the character loves to see the soul leave the body first before he proceed to kill another. Also, the bosses I encountered on the first map are much easier compared to some common monster like the skeleton knight which has fast and multiple attack animations. They are also very generous with the resources (healing you, giving you potions), so its a bit easier compared to other souls-like game, at least up to the point I played. All in all, its a decent game. I can't totally recommend it due to its current price, but I want to s...
Well I took a chance on it. This game is very much inspired by the Souls series. It features simple controls, exploration, an open ended world, magic, melee combat, and character upgrading among other things. I do wish it had voice acting for the rest of the game besides just the opening. Would bring the world to life more. There is some kind of story revolving around the Dark. We gotta get rid of it somehow. The controls for M&K could use some work when it comes to the combat..when there is more than one enemy it gets a bit chaotic. Also the price tag should be a bit lower imo. That may dissuade a few people off the bat. Overall, it's a solid effort from Derek Tanis. Sample gameplay here: https://youtu.be/oLSkR44-1D0
