About This Game

The game has been guided by professional.

Is there anyone around you that suffers from depression? Do you really understand depression? This game allows you to enter a world of people who suffer from depression and understand how to deal with people with depression properly.

"Room of Depression" is an adventure game on Steam that focuses on the atmosphere and experience of depression.

Players experience Moon's daily life. Her encounters may be as ordinary as any passer-by but her world is very different from others. The big and small events in life affect her differently because she suffers from depression.

Depression is a common mental illness around the world, especially in developed cities. The mission of this work is to not only explain depression, but to let players have a taste of depression themselves through the game experience.

This game made me want to kiII myself more than I already did with how dogshit I found it to be. If you are looking for solace and understanding in a game, this is not it; not only is the story terrible since it pushes the idea that mental struggle can only be solved through external factors (religion), it does so very condescendingly with surface-level anecdotes. The interactive parts are also very lackluster, and while I understand they aren't the main attraction of the game, many of them are very buggy—you will have a hard time progressing just because you need to try and turn a page 800 times before the game finally registers it. Do not buy this game unless you do so as some twisted form of seIf harm.

Really well put together. Harsh, but honest. It was a pleasure to play through this story and I would highly recommend that others play it as well. The interactive "games" do an amazing job at showing struggle and attempts at perseverance, simulating hopelessness and eventually growth as the story progresses. I wish the price was lower, but aside from that, I loved the artwork and storytelling!

Lovely art, kinda relatable story, some parts hit home, I didn't like the religious part because I've met many people who tell you to find comfort in God, Ik everyone is different but idk

At the start of the game it says depression comes in many forms, and the people commenting saying that they've had depression and this isn't a very good representation simply can't see things from other people's perspectives. There are plenty of people who find everyday mundane, are alone, and struggle to find joy in anything. This isn't a promotion for religion, the church itself wasn't even an important part, they simply found a community there they could belong in, with a kindred spirit who could understand them and help them. Depression often makes people feel like regardless of what happens nothing will every help, it will never get better. In a way it kind of makes you blind to the things around you. People find help in different things, there's no one simple thing that will help everyone, and I've met people who believe they've tried everything, talked to different people and tried everything they've heard of but still found nothing that helps. I can't say that you'll find somet...

Coming into this as someone only partially familiar with depression, I must say I’m glad I played this game. Room of Depression is a story-rich visual novel that takes a PSA-style, educational approach, guiding players through the emotional highs and lows of living with depression. It follows the tragic story of our protagonist, Moon, and her mundane daily life, blending static visuals with small interactive minigames to keep the experience engaging. The game is clear about presenting an isolated case rather than a universal depiction of depression, yet its core message remains broadly relatable. From a gameplay perspective, I didn’t expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised by what it offered. Interacting with elements of Moon’s life—flicking lights on, working at her job, building a burger, or swatting away intrusive thoughts—was a welcome touch. These mechanics are used thoughtfully to support the narrative, and the pacing is carefully controlled. Despite granting some...
