Amazing traditional roguelike (proc gen, permadeath, turn based, tile based, grid based, items/inventory, bump-attacks, etc). All enemy attacks are telegraphed and behaviors are easy to learn but provide a very fair and fun challenge. Tons of enemy and item variety. Items are actually interesting and change the way you play. And it even has something that 90% of roguelike devs magically forget they will need until their players start begging for it - the ability to save and quit mid run. Who would have thought? Well, this guy did. It absolutely blows my mind how so many roguelikes / lites forget this crucial feature. Anyway, this game has everything else you'd want to when it comes to QoL - clear item descriptions so you don't have to guess at what they do, an in-game encyclopedia of what the items do so you don't have to remember, controller support, re-bindable keys for both keyboard and controller, cool bosses that don't require trial and error to learn their patterns, cle...

About This Game
Babel of Ystilia combines tactical, turn-based gameplay of traditional roguelikes with fast-paced, minimalistic and intuitive combat where your movement and turn timings are the key to getting out of fights unscathed. Learn enemy patterns to outsmart them, loot equipment to create powerful synergies and slay the god to save the world of Ystilia from divine lunacy.
Every enemy is a micro puzzle
Every enemy has a predictable behavior that feels like a micro puzzle. Learn their patterns and you will always be able to beat them with any weapon and without taking any damage.
Play at your own pace
This game is completely turn-based, but it can feel quite fast due to the minimalistic nature of the combat system and the absence of turn delays. Speed up in simple rooms and slow down when you are surrounded by a crowd of enemies to carefully think about your plan.
Create your own item combinations
Your inventory is limited so make the most of it because every item matters. Become a thunder warlock, chicken summoner, ballista engineer or a poisonous assassin. Play however you want and try out new item combinations every run!

I've been enjoying this game quite a bit. It works really well playing with a controller! My only complaints: - It would be nice to be able to hold down controller buttons in the encyclopedia to scroll around faster without having to click down multiple times. - I can't figure out a way to "examine" my own equipment with a controller. Is hovering a mouse cursor the only way to do this currently?
This game is basically the binding of isaac imagined as a traditional roguelike. The control scheme is pretty straightforward with the patterns of the enemies and their traits adding difficulty. The items are interesting and offer nice synergies, while your greatest enemy is probably yourself - miscalculating or misclicking. The game mechanics and enemy patterns are well crafted and well thought out, so that the different enemies do feel distinct while staying engaging. Besides the classic gameloop characteristic for traditional roguelikes, many further variations are built into the game similar to how it is implemented in the binding of isaac, furthermore adding to its replayability - from different levels with new bosses and enemies, to unlockable characters, while its variety of itemization options keep it furthermore fresh for the many attempts to strive forwards upwards the tower. In nuce, this is a well crafted, engaging and fun game successfully combining different gen...
great! Reminds me of Sproggiwood but with deeper items and mechanics. I would buy a mobile port, fwiw Update: I love it.
