About the Game

Die in the Dungeon is a deck-building, turn-based roguelite game where your deck is not made out of cards, but DICE!

In Die in the Dungeon, each dice represents a different action, from basic ones like attacking or healing to boosting other dice or copying their abilities.

Improve the quality of your dice, combine them and acquire powerful relics to defeat the monsters that dwell in the dungeon! Find great synergies by combining dice with unique abilities to create powerful and bizarre decks!

Game Features

  • Craft your deck from an ever-growing collection of dice.
Every dice has its purpose, with tons of combinations to discover and exploit. On top of that, special properties and upgrades will ensure no single dice feel exactly the same.
  • Explore the dungeon and its unwelcoming inhabitants.
Forged by strong magic, the walls and floors of the dungeon shift continuously, creating a brand new experience in every run. Thankfully, encounters are not always hostile, but never let your guard down... it’s all a game of risk and reward down here.
  • Discover powerful synergies by choosing from a myriad of relics.
Stack their powers and use them to boost your dice and board slots, multiplying the power of your combinations and becoming unstoppable. But don’t get too greedy, the stronger a relic is, the bigger their drawbacks will affect you and your deck.
Trust the roll of the dice and discover the fate that awaits you within the dungeon walls!

A clever little dice mechanic dungeon-crawler. It is very much working from the Slay the Spire playbook, but with dice. That's not a bad thing, as it gives you options and different ways to shape your playstyle. There are a lot of moving parts involved in some of the combos, which are clever if you can stack them just right. It can sometimes be a little bit hard to figure out all the interactions that are going on, and sometimes the UI is a little obtuse (X should always be examine, Y should always be choose/execute) but it's still EA and some kinks are being worked out. They never let you rest on your laurels, the board is ever-changing, and you'll have to keep thinking on how best to face a given enemy or area. The graphics and sound are solid and I am always in favor of games where you get to play as a frog. Very smooth pixel art. You have to switch to the beta branch at present to use Steam Deck/controller but the branch is working well and I look forward to it going prod. ...

i like sts and i like dice but this game kind of becomes brain numbingly slow and boring by the point you reach the 2nd area, let alone the 3rd. brain currently numb from trying out the new endless mode so i couldn't even begin to theorize how this could be fixed for now, sadly. speakin of, ever heard of "die for the lich"?

Fun, similar to Slay the Spire. The gameplay didn't make much sense just looking at the store page, but the initial tutorial does a great job explaining what everything actually means/does.

It really helps that I was able to try out "Die in the Dungeons Origins", an older version of this, for free to get a feel for the mechanics for this game and I already found it fun. Now, I love this game!

If I'm being honest, the original itch.io game is just so much more fun, no cap. I've been following this game since it was released as a game jam game I played it like day of I'm so sad it's not fun in this state. None of the added mechanics really add enjoyment to the game, especially the new enchantments and stuff just increase clutter. Events are just so so so overpowered the only strategy is to do as many as you can. Bossfights look cool but are rarely mechanically interesting and the new art style makes everything feel so superficial and bubbly. I'm not saying this is a BAD game, just that it's mehhh.

Game balancing still needs work. Good bones but later worlds have enemy groups that are simply unfair aaaaaand you just wasted an hour or two. Can't recommend in current state.

I really liked the demo and was super exicted. Copy pasting from Blumpo Gripliskin because its basically how I felt with this. " i like sts and i like dice but this game kind of becomes brain numbingly slow and boring by the point you reach the 2nd area, let alone the 3rd. brain currently numb from trying out the new endless mode so i couldn't even begin to theorize how this could be fixed for now, sadly." Very cool and novel in the beginning, but its just so slow later. maybe because its dice based? idk if you can fix it, was fun for the beginning though.

For the price, you can't go wrong with this. It's a great game at the core. However, it is, and very much feels like, an early access game. It is chock full of bugs. UI in a lot of places is very poor and frustrating (eg. often some important piece of information will be blocked by something else). It's lacking in content. But, we'll see if they can overcome these defects in time for full release. This is a roguelike with a unique and fun game mechanic, and good art and music. Easy recommend for any fan of the genre. Though it is very reasonable to wait till release, too, especially if you fear the bugs and other EA defects will sour your experience.
