Despite being a retro rpg remake, it still does some quite innovative things with the genre, if you can get past the rougher old bits

as someone who's been following team asano since bravely default i think i can pretty safely say this goofy little 90s rpg is my favorite game of all time. i'm really glad i looked into it when this remaster was announced and then proceeded to buy it both on switch and the pc. i've got about 65 hours at the time of writing this on the pc version & more in the switch one, so i feel like i'm a pretty decent judge of this 20-some hour game. easy answer: please for the love of god play it. changed my life. i literally do not shut up about it. i don't mind the changes (both in the original japanese and the translation) - if the guy who directed the game wanted them, he's at liberty to change whatever about it he wants. it's not like the original's disappeared. however, if you say you DON'T like the way the medieval era chapter's translated dialogue is written in iambs, i genuinely think you're lying. really fun quirk. while i'm definitely the first guy clamoring for a sequel i don't thin...

I picked this up on sale and didn't really know much about it, and I bounced off it the first couple of times I tried it, but when it sucked me in I was totally hooked. At first it seems like bitesized JRPG scenarios in different genres that you can pick up and play and it does deliver that, but the way it pulls everything together and ties those stories together and the darkness behind everything is really great. It was a big influence on Octoparh Traveler and Undertale and you can really feel that DNA looking back. An easy recommendation

The variety and novelty of this title is really cool. It's incredible what they were able to achieve in the 90's with this.

This is a very nice little JRPG, or i should say 7 little JRPGs, its very experimental and each chapter is its own self contained game functioning differently. So far ive only completed Prehistory, Imperial China, and Wild West, but the game is awesome so far, the music is great and the HD-2D graphics are amazing (as they always are)

This is an incredibly unique little game. I love how they approach giving characters their own short stories. It is structured in a way that I always wished Octopath Travler would be. I also really enjoyed this battle system. It is kind of in this cool middle ground between final fantasy tactics and something adjacent to an ATB system like FF4. This is a game that originally came out in 1994, and while it avoided a lot of them, it does have a few of the frustrating design philosophies from that era, but not too many, and it didn't really take away from my enjoyment of the game. Stuff like inventory organization and party management that is always a bit of a issue in these older RPG's. I personally would love to see this formula refined further, and see what a Live A Live 2 could look like. But, for now, I am happy I got to play through this unique gem of a game.

Live A Live is one of the most experimental games I've ever played. It does things only a videogame can really do.

Criminally overlooked, so glad it got the remaster treatment! The soundtrack is also one of the best!

It has been one of the most fun games I've played in recent memory. If you enjoy games such as Chrono Trigger this will definitely be a good experience.
