About This Game

Survive the horrors of the unknown as you expand your lands to keep from being dragged into the darkness; and devoured by that which lurks inside. Every time you make an action, the world around moves forward too. So be strategic in your choices, and be sure they are worth it.

COLLECT

  • Time moves with you.
  • When you make an action, the world around you also moves forward. So be careful with your actions.
  • And to help you manage time, place your workers to help collect resources.

COMBINE

  • Discover and Collect various cards found on the islands to Combine them into structures and to expand your lands.
  • With the more resources you collect and combine, the more you can build from collecting and combining.

EXPAND

  • Build up your kingdom to the right as you craft new islands, and keep from being swallowed by the darkness that is always moving closer from the left.
  • The more you expand your lands, the further the distance between you and the darkness.

DEFEND

  • Send out your soldiers to bide for more time.
  • Make units from your structures as you expand, and place them on the front-lines to fight off the enemies that appear from the darkness.
  • But be wary of the different beings that will appear...

A DIRE WARNING

Not much is known of all the creatures from the darkness, and you may have to learn how to deal with them on your own.

And you can escape... But how to do so is unknown, as those who have lived have all lost their minds.
The only advice that can be given to prepare you is the basics of surviving in this land.

Collect, Combine, Expand, and Defend.

But... do not think light of such simple instructions.

Survival is far more an arduous task than one would first assume.
As there have been tales of others being dragged into the darkness.

So make a goal of not underestimating this world...
Less you too become another tale of hubris and woe...

And another tale of one that has been taken by... THE CALL OF KRUL'AR!

I enjoyed learning the game mechanics. Not sure how to classify it, but there is a game demo to try before you buy. Played on an Ubuntu desktop with keyboard and mouse controllers.

This game is an absolute BEAST. This is drowning in Eldritch flavored Razor lined Rubik's Cubes. And in one of those delicious cubes hides the one and only key to survival. This game holds back pulsing walls of sand just beyond the darkness long enough for you to catch a breath, and then the waves keep coming. When you are playing this game, you are literally drowning in Eldritch corpses, and its riveting. BUY IT ASAP AND SHARE IT - It won't be this Brutal forever! So if you are a fan of Tower Defense games, Puzzle games, Time Management Games, System Builders. Please buy and play now as is, you will not find anything this challenging and rewarding and it won't always be quite like this. The discovery factor is WILD - At least 3+ times I had my plans for success just smashed and rebuilt, and you rethink WHAT needs to be happening and WHEN, and you try and succeed a bit more than the last swing. I would compare the experience to playing against an especially overwhelming AI like ...

Usually I don't recommend a game that's still got a game breaking bug in it, but I think the game is worth the 3 bucks even though it's crashing and I can't finish the game. I feel like I beat it anyway. The final countdown or w/e was almost done. I just lament not knowing what the ending is because there's really nothing else to aspire to with no achievements or anything. But more to information for the game... It's got the cryptic nonsense of some other games, but you can figure it out with a little tenacity. I also think this game will be a bit hard to start with for most, but I thought it was fairly easy personally. I've seen some complaints about it being hard but I just don't agree at all. Just keep in mind the game is turn based so you have as much time as you need to plan ahead. I do wish the game was a little less cryptic for things like how long it will take on individual structures to finish work, how much HP things have, and a little indicator somewhere to let me know tha...

Abandoned by the developer. Don't bother anymore. He won't even release a bug fix patch for the current bugs that effectively makes one of his building useless even though he's aware of it (watch tower bug). Good game idea, sadly abandoned.

Reminds me of one of the better Sokpop games, except the dev actually seems to care about balance and longevity (do we still say "oh, snap?"). I suppose the runs take a bit longer than I would like and there are perhaps half as many cards as I would care to see (if I have seen them all, and I think I have, but not sure). Those are the only two flaws worth mentioning. The best things about the game is the opacity. Everything works in a particular way and makes abundant sense, but you have to pay attention and figure out what's going on by hashing your way through -- classic PC gaming. It took two runs to have a solid grasp of how everything worked, and by run two I was already trying a particular strategy and had three more I wanted to try in the future. I still have a couple of experiments I want to try to see if I actually have my notions straight about some of the cards. If this looks at all like your kind of game, you should give it a go. The demo promises a particular expe...

It's hard but fun! Discovering new combos is a nice touch. Hoping for a wee bit more balance in the following patches.
