its bad...the story is okay/meh (jag/GB)...but short...compared to mercs...the graphics are fine to better...the addition of elementals in GB is cool and i really liked them...the main problem: the mechs... whoever designed the mechs in this game was an idiot...u have a ton of new clan mechs...both omni and some IS-IIc mechs...but...for all of the omni mechs u are limited to a very small handful that are actually playable...almost all of the JJ equiped mechs lock the legs slots with two unneeded JJ and to compound that issue the legs will have suboptimal armor and no ability to up it...the omnimechs are locked in their armor and IS...all u can do is add armor via internal slots...problem is almost every-single-mech in the game has random crap in vital low slot areas like the center torso/leg/head...meaning u cannot up armor those locations this makes using most mechs annoying to impossible with the way missions are multistage and the fact that ur star will be expected to kill 1-2...

I got bored with this before finishing the game fully. Very uninspired game. This company preys on the goodwill of fans, if you took this game out of the battletech universe, it would have negative reviews.

While it doesn’t offer the open-ended gameplay of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, Clans delivers an incredibly detailed and lore-accurate portrayal of the Clan Invasion. It offers a rare and precious glimpse into a part of the BattleTech universe that, until now, had only lived in my imagination. If you're a fan of BattleTech lore, I cannot recommend this game highly enough.

No character creator, you play as some loser named Jayden. No thanks.

As a long-time Mech fan, I really can't recommend this game. The animations were better back in Mechwarrior 4. The mechs feel more like plastic toys than heavy battle machines. The weapon animations, explosions, and environmental destruction all seem like they're still in beta. I just don't get the good reviews. And then there's all this constant DLC nonsense. Just make the main game better, and people would be willing to pay more. Enough with the DLC crap!

I have to give this game a sideways thumb but mostly positive. The graphics and interface are definitely improved from MW5: Mercenaries, and getting to play a pivotal role in the Clans' invasion of the Inner Sphere is cool, buuuuuuut: * The MechWarrior AI has apparently not advanced since MW4 . . . which came out 25 freaking years ago. Seriously, your MechWarrior buddies have no intelligence. They can be directed to follow you, attack a single target, or stand in one place and shoot. When following you or attacking a target, they engage in an awkward Texas two-step, shuffling back and forth and getting in each others' way and yours. In an alternate universe, they would know how to do things like flank and maneuver behind cover, but no. This is Mechwarrior 5's most unforgivable sin. * The missions in the campaign feel like a monotonous slog through waves of enemies, with not much variation between mission styles. I also have an issue with Smoke Jaguar Clan's 'Mech design doctrine...

Do you like being a freelancer scraping your way up from the bottom? I sure hope not, because this aint that game son, you're a clanner now, and you get the big boy guns from the start. If you wanna kick rocks with all the other losers, that's the other mechwarrior game, and this one is designed for ACTION.

In Kerensky's Name, if you can run it just buy it already. Seriously, great game with wonderful story and cutscene showing off the wonderful battletech story of the Clan Invasion. All the most advanced Omnimechs you could want, seemingly thousands of lances lining up to be filled with every single laser you can fit on an arm, beautiful, detailed maps, and beautiful destructive Mechs with unique cockpits and flying limbs. No major game breaking bugs on the gameplay side, though once in a while a tank or mech dying will lead to a corpse flying into the atmosphere, which I can see causing a few issues for missions given some require or allow you to scan corpses for data. Only real issue has been coop, which even with more limited wifi, has been running fine, but sometimes will have issues initially connecting requiring restarts of the computer and console of my brother in order to play together, and sadly you cannot choose what player slot to invite someone from to help with the issue l...

Okay, so this is a conditional yes. This is a good game if you're already a Battletech nerd... but let's be honest if you're considering purchasing Mechwarrior 5: Clans you're probably already a Battletech nerd so I will say yes. However, if you stumbled across it and think "Tex" is just a generic nickname for soldiers in Vietnam war movies give it a pass - I'd introduce somebody to this franchise using HBS Battletech before this one (or, if they're a fan of retro games - Mechwarrior 2: Mercs). Now for my actual opinions on the game itself: Gameplay: So this is solid. The mechs feel like they should - big, stompy death machines with lots of firepower. Balancing could use a lot of work but if you've played other Mechwarrior titles you should not be disappointed here. Story: PGI actually hired competent character writers! Or maybe their existing writers just got better. I mean look - these characters aren't gonna crack your top 20 video game characters ESPECIALLY if you play a lot ...
