Thumbs down with caveats. Spellrogue is a Slay the Spire clone with dice used to fuel your spells (similar to Dicey Dungeon). It works well enough and I have played a decent amount I imagine i'll play more but despite being solid and reasonably fun it has some crippling downsides that might put others off. It's quite a slow game, runs feel like they take forever and slipping your dice into their respective spells, rerolling et cetera takes much more time than playing cards does in StS. There are a small pool of enemies and bosses so runs feel a bit samey. The difficulty is massively overtuned especially the true final boss. The worst thing about this feels like there are only one or two optimal setups and the rest are crap, there's no point in having a variety of spells and having most of them being unsuitable and borderline unusable. Trying to have fun in SpellRogue feels like its locked behind knowing which overpowered spells to use rather than building a working strategy out of ...

SpellRogue is a roguelite deckbuilder featuring dice rolling mechanics. During combat, the player will roll multiple dice each turn, which are spent to activate your spells, allowing you to either attack enemies, defend, or use a special ability to roll extra dice or apply status effects to the player or an enemy. The player can see what action each enemy intends to take on their turn, which helps to plan your turn. You’ll keep the same spells in your hand for the whole fight, but you can acquire new spells and change your loadout between fights. Some spells can be activated by spending any die, and the value of that die determines the strength of the spell. “Countdown” spells are activated by spending any combination of dice adding up to a total value, for example a countdown 10 spell could be activated with a 1+2+3+4, a 6+4, etc. While those types of spells will benefit from high dice rolls, to activate quicker and deal more damage, one thing that I really like about t...
SImple to learn but deep to play. Don't let the traditional dice fool you, there' s a lot to unpack!
I had fun with this but not as much as I usually do. It could just be deckbuilder roguelite fatigue. This has all of the hallmarks of any deckbuilder you have ever played. If anything, the actual cards get MORE convoluted in what they do. Still, it's fun. If you are burning out on deckbuilders, this one isn't going to bring anything that revolutionary. If you are not burned out, this will be just a good time.
Fun game, until the repetitive grind kicks in, which is why I rarely play these types of games. About the time you get the hang of the game...you've seen it all, done it all. It's the same maps and same handful of mobs each run. XP and their associated unlocks are pretty slow going. You can go into custom games and give yourself easy mode big xp wins, but that makes the grind worse. Like any game like this, your runs boil down to mostly RNG. Still, if games like this are your jam, you'll enjoy it. Even though I won't bother to finish it, I got my money worth out of it.
Great fun. Similar idea to Slay the Spire. Lots of replay value. Working out how to get combos to work is great fun, there is lots of scope for good combos. It took me 70 hrs to win my first run (I am no expert) and I have really enjoyed it. It took me a little while to understand how the different slots work, and there are lots of mechanics I have not explored yet.
Super fun!!!
As a huge fan of Slay the Spire, this game really hits the spot. The characters feel unique, and the mechanics are varied. Each update has improved the depth of game play and the graphics. Runs feel a little short with only 3 "maps" to play through- I would love to see another added in the future!
Interesting dice engine game. Inspired by Slay the Spire.
Dice mitigation game version of slay the spire. In general it works well. Not all the builds are as easy to understand as in other games that work off this design but otherwise the play is satisfying and entertaining. If you like the card building solo games like Slay the Spire and you like dice rolling this is one to give a try.
