About This Game

HeistGeist is a story-driven (non-roguelike) cyberpunk RPG where you fight and hack using cards. Take on the role of Alexandra, a double-crossed street-smart thief on the run after a heist gone wrong. Assemble a team of specialists, mastermind intricate heists, engage in card-based battles, and hack into the most secure corporate systems.

  • Set in an original post-cyberpunk world based on real locations in a fictional version of Central Europe in 2040’s

  • Plan highly sophisticated heists for super secret prototypes or classified corporate intel. But be prepared that even the best laid plans can sometimes get messy. Adapt to change, make the right choices, stay alive and most of all, get the job done.

  • Put together a team of professionals made up of unusual allies with a very particular set of skills.

Follow the story of Alexandra, a professional thief for hire who's desperately trying to stay alive after her last job in Venice went terribly wrong. On the run from corporate assassins and with a knife to her throat courtesy of a very unhappy client, Alex needs to assemble a team of professionals to pull off the heist of a lifetime.

The game is set in a futuristic version of Central Europe of the 2040s, in a sprawling cyberpunk-inspired agglomeration inspired by our hometown.

If stealth is not an option, fight guards and automated security systems in tactical card-based battles. Instead of traditional skill trees, customize your character by assembling a deck of cards tailored to your chosen strategy.

Utilize the unique combo mechanic by playing cards in the correct sequence to enhance their effects. Kick things off with a cheap attack, plan ahead to build your combo, and finish strong with a powerful finisher.

As you play certain cards, they accumulate upgrade points. Once the card levels up, it can be upgraded into one of two versions, each suitable for a different character build, offering deep customization enhancing your strategic options and synergies.

Hack into the most secure corporate systems in our reimagination of cyberspace net running with a special card-based hacking mechanics inspired by the new DeusEx games and Android: Netrunner.

Break through strong barriers, dodge deadly ICEs and run powerful programs and viruses all to get to data storages full of valuable data.

+ Good mix of combat card game and text quest. - There is little variety in musical themes, especially in combat(you get tired of it quickly.).

Love deck builders that aren't rogue likes. I just like building a deck and actually keeping it for more than an hour of my life. Its not like rogue likes are hard... Its just super unsatisfying to start from the beginning constantly. Since there aren't a lot of actual RPGs that have deck building mechanics, unless Heistgeist was terrible, I probably would have liked it. But its more than just serviceable, its pretty solid. Pros: Deck building RPG. Characters are fun and well written. Voice acting is solid. Music is good. Mechanics are simple and flow well. I like the variety between the decks and the differences between hacking/combat. This game isn't too difficult. (I just ended up going infinite). Something light and fun to play. Cons: Some frame drops when there's a lot of cards. Music is good, but needs more songs/ variety. I just spent most of my time with the combat music. Would like some cards that require synergy to have more synergy cards to put them more in line with the p...
Recommended on a discount
Finally a deckbuilder that isn't a roguelike. You have one deck throughout the entire story of the game. Your cards get XP by playing them and then become upgraded, and ALL copies of a card have that upgrade. I immediately saw potential to go (almost) infinite and someway through, I build a deck that actually did thanks to the upgrade system and some accessories that slim your deck, so I could beat every fight on the first turn. The fights are a bit "slow", since you have animation lock after every card you play and have to wait for some effects to finish and you deal 2-6 damage for most of your cards while facing 150 or more "total" HP of enemies. Wish you could speed that up or have some gear that gives you more damage. It became a bit tiresome towards the end, since my deck was already perfect and the battles dragged quite a bit, so thank god it doesn't overstay its welcome (too much). Personally, I didn't care much for the story. It lost me so...
