About This Game

Remember those old console racing games we grew up playing on the small CRT boxes? AV-Racer is a 2D top down retro style arcade racing game inspired in style by that nostalgia and in gameplay by the spirit of retro arcaders.

Features

CRT style graphics:

Convex screen, curved edges, scan-lines, RGB shift, static, and on/off TV effects are emulated to chase that feeling of childhood nostalgia in games. NOTE: These effects are toggleable and can be turned off in the game settings.

Fast paced and challenging racing:

Push will come to shove in this one. Paint the roads with tire tracks and cover your opponents with smoke as you battle for first in a fast paced circuit racing format. Learn the track and memorize the corners to nail your approach. Utilize going offtrack and cutting corners to your advantage and slide ahead the competition.

Race up to 10 drivers, against a challenging AI system. No rubber banding, no handicaps, no artificial boosts, learn the track, take corners right and you will get ahead.

14 different race locations:

Race at 14 different locations with 24 different track setups. Hand crafted tracks with corners inspired by famous tracks around the world. Look out for Easter Eggs!

5 different car classes and championships:

Climb your way from the Junior league to the World Series in 5 car classes. Collect trophies in 5 different championships; Junior, Senior, Professional, Endurance, and World Championship. Progress in the career to unlock car classes and tracks to play in single player and split screen

Split-Screen local Multiplayer mode:

Share the crazy action with a friend and compete locally in a Two-Player mode against each other or with AI, using the tracks an cars unlocked in Career.

This game is absolutely amazing! I'm not even the biggest motorsport fan, but I thoroughly enjoy this game. I was worried that it wouldn't be worth the $5, but it is. The track designs sometimes make starting out difficult, but after a few laps you easily get the hang of them. The career mode is really fun and I love trying to beat my best times in single player. I just need a friend to run split screen with me :(. Anyways, amazing game, would recommend, if you have $5, spend it on this.

Playing this game has been so much fun, it has the balance between reality (taking racing line for example) and the arcade feel of the game. the controls of the game are not hard, they might be at first but after couple of races I got pretty used to it, I haven't got the chance to play the game with a controller, but the keyboard is doing great for me for now. The most exciting part of this game for me is learning the maps and getting the best lap times I can get, I hope a leaderboard feature will be added in the future to raise the competitiveness of this game. at least between friends for starters. I'm looking forward for this game's future!!!

Amazing game, great fun and really really helpful game dev. i'm surprise how fast this burns through time. 9/10 for the game. Needs some finishing touches like penalties for ramming player off the track. I understand the penalties for crashing and touching is hard as it will happen a lot but yeeting me off the corner is not very cool :(( Also maybe pitting, tire deg and potentially making the track a long longer as in scale it big bigger (sometimes the speed of the car doesn't really match how some of the length of the track, like as soon as you get up to speed you gotta slow down or lift to go around a corner. Also we need like 100m 50m breaking signs as it helps to learn the track a bit more. Also would love to get more laps in as an option like (100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 15%, 10% Races) Would love a bit more Formula racing action in career as well. Cheers mate, keep up the good work

I loved the design and the fact it is compatible with a controller. There are thousand differrent car games on Steam but this one is different with the fact it's 2D, everyone can play in 3D but the bird perspective here makes the game very challenging and arcade. I recommend trying out! Thumbs up :)

This game is a blast! Trying to beat your personal lap times and playing the career mode is really fun. I enjoy the different classes of cars and the drifting physics. The game reminds me of RC Pro-Am on the NES

I enjoy the game, the only thing I would change are the walls, instead of making them thick black lines I would have made them look like a brick wall so they stand out a bit more.
