Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge

Kamaeru: A Frog Rescue is a cozy, heartwarming game where you hop (😉) into the role of rescuing adorable frogs and restoring their habitat. The art style is beautiful (quite ribbiting) and the music is soothing, making it perfect for unwinding after a long day. Some gameplay elements aren’t fully explained, but you can leap to the right conclusions pretty easily. Furniture placement isn’t very precise so if you’re particular about furnishing or building, it might toad-ally frustrate you. There’s also quite a bit of idle time while you wait to collect items for crafting, and the loop can get repetitive pretty early on. However, that’s exactly why I love it. After a long day, I just want something wholesome, not too stimulating, and easy to play without overthinking. This is a relaxing lily pad to land on when you just want to switch off your brain. The cozy atmosphere, adorable froggies, and charming visuals make it a game worth croaking about.

I only played for a few minutes, but that was enough for me. The controls aren't very intuitive, moving across the 'map' is infuriatingly slow, and the little bit of story I saw was very bland. If you ever played Pocket Frogs on your phone, this is basically the same thing with some decorating instead of jumping across lily pads. I like the premise, but the execution is lacking.

This game combines 2 loves of mine. Cozy gaming and Herpetology <3 There are tons of great customization options for the frogs, furniture, and other items for you frog sanctuaries. I love the idea of playing TicTacToe with nature in determining phenotype and genotype (appearance and DNA) and mixing results to get new options. I feel like that is how it goes IRL in a nutshell lol It also has everything in a cozy type game that would have me recommending it to others: 1. Charming environment 2. Engaging story. 3. Go at your own pace goals. 4. Replayability. I wish I could work here for reals.

This was a splendid little creature collector / management game involving the best amphibians - Frogs. I had a wonderful time getting all the achievements, outside of the final achievement - Collect all the frogs. This wouldn't have been so bad if not for the final 2 colors of frog for each subspecies, blush and cookie. Both of these are available SOLELY through the breeding system, which is a game of Tic Tac Toe against the game. This took me several hours to do the remaining 44% of frogs which used these colorings. All in all, fantastic time and would recommend to anyone who enjoys cozy frog games

Really enjoyed it, cute and relaxing, and wholesome. (we'll ignore the selling honey part, that's not exactly good for the bees) It does get a bit grindy at the end to get all the frogs, I wish that once you've bred the new colours into a species the colours started appearing naturally...

I love frogs and cozy/collector games! So I highly recommend this game! It is a bit fast/easy to finish the main story but then you can just collect frogs which is awesome!

This game is insanely relaxing and as a major frog lover, I just needed to buy it. It makes me so happy breeding and collecting different froggies and seeing them interact with the furniture
