About This Game

Super Indiemania is a game inspired by several classics. It is a 2D action side-scroller and mainly a linear experience. Keep moving forward to each new stage while fighting supernatural enemies/bosses, avoiding hazards, discovering items, and utilizing vehicles!
  • Many unique areas to explore, such as: graveyards, giant beehives, mushroom jungle ruins, an underwater palace, evil forests, a castle...and more of course!

  • A multitude of different enemies and bosses to conquer: Zombies, Shroomtrolls, Skeletons, Evil Bears, Vampires, and Carl!

  • Your main weapon is a whip with a multi-directional ability: attack horizontally, vertically and diagonally!

  • Discover new sub weapons on each stage: Crystal Crosses, Mushroom Bombs, Throwing Leaves, and others!

  • Most sub weapons have a secondary use, e.g. the Crystal Cross can turn into a shield to repel enemies, the Throwing Leaf can be thrown at multiple angles

  • In certain areas, utilize vehicles such as minecarts, a mushroom-ship with a laser cannon, a super strong penguin and others

  • Find hidden items, such as health, score, projectile ammunition and extra lives pickups in each area

Story:

An Evil Nerd has created yet another 2D game...how surprising! To create his new world the Evil Nerd has stolen and corrupted the souls of many Indie Developers! Our hero is forced to play the game over and over until he is able to free the Indie Souls and defeat the Evil Nerd and his minions!

Do you have what it takes to put an end to the Evil Nerd (and his unoriginal ideas) and destroy Castle Indiemania once and for all (or maybe not...)?

ENG: A Castlevania so indie that it's about rescuing indie developers, with an unserious plot, much like its trailer. On the positive side, it's entertaining and, despite being somewhat simplistic in its gameplay, it offers diverse content: maps, bosses, weapons, and a sort of WTF transformation/vehicles. The number of enemies is vast, and they all have well-crafted death animations, which shows that a lot of effort was put into it. On the negative side, the levels are somewhat linear, and the game lacks originality overall, relying heavily on the nostalgia factor. You won't discover anything new with Super Indiemania, but you'll have a good time, especially in the boss fights. This game is worth every penny. I'm always hunting for Castlevania clones and Indiemania really does well putting its own spin on the formula. The only thing that made me apprehensive to try it was the amateurish art, but the screenshots don't really capture how skillful the animations are. There's little as rewarding as beating a tough boss battle and being duly rewarded with images of their head being ripped open and brains splattering all over. So much is going on under the hood here, and it's all about the little touches. This probably has my favorite implementation of the Sonic-style underwater air bubble mechanic. Occasionally there's fun sections where you're able to use an item/creature that grants unique powers, like turning into a giant frog or a plant helicopter. The levels are expansive and encourage a little bit of exploration and there's so much enemy variety between stages. I would feel no shame buying such a fully featured game at full price. Please make more!

I've only reached Stage 2 but this is good stuff and I've played a crap ton of these "vanias" Always eat the wall meat. Developer is responsive in the forums.

This game was hard. I beat it on easy out of 3 total difficulties, which still felt difficult. But this game definitely feels rewarding once you complete a stage. The ending was worth it. It plays and reminds me of old SNES games. Like Mario, Lost Vikings, Castlevania, and many others. Would recommend.
