CHAOS;HEAD NOAH

Chaos;Head has this way of making you feel strangely lucid in a way other vns haven't made me feel so far. The developers definitely know how to build atmosphere and subvert expectations too. It's not perfect but it's a very interesting story that knows its audience well.

I was forced to play this due to a global shadow government psyop. At any rate, this was the first VN I actually played to completion. Was an interesting ride for sure. Cool entry to the science adventure genre. Started playing the game because it was related to Steins;Gate and found it was worth the ride. The game definitely gets pretty schizo and covers some pretty interesting topics, especially those that are science related. Bill Clinton is even mentioned among other things. Definitely be sure to get the community patch from the Committee of Zero site for optimal translations, quality of life improvements, and more. Overall, Darth Spider and Gero Froggy are real ones. I give this game two Issei Noros and one Hideo Kojima.

It's a must read. You'd do yourself a big favor if you're a fan of any of the other SciADV titles, and if you want to experience the entire thing as a whole.

Schizophrenia simulator

Takumi is such a fantastically flawed protagonist!! His flaws are honestly what made him as a character and the story itself so compelling. I love how his shortcomings aren't shown as positive but are still acknowledged and accepted as a part of him as he reaches the end of his story. He's such a tragic miserable guy! I've never read a story with a MC quite like him before. For all his faults you can really see why he turned out the way he did with his backstory in mind... BIG SPOILERS ABOUT SAID BACKSTORY AHEAD: [spoiler]The realization that he is a delusional existence is such a compelling tragic fate for him. He is told he would have the traits of someone else entirely if he was made correctly. That his personality was made wrong. With him already having horrible self-image issues to begin with, he starts to see himself as a genuine monster as he saves the world. On top of it all the girl he became a hero for, the girl who he loves, is willing to kill him for the slight chance it ...

Fantastic VN, really does a good job of pacing out the story and facts so that you can't just solve the mystery yourself in the first couple of chapters. The psychological moments were handled well, and while it didn't really step into horror, it still conveyed a sense of mass confusion and urgency coming from the protagonist. Definitely look into this if you are a fan of steins;gate as it does build up very well to that story. Also, install the CoZ patch from their website. It's super easy and makes the game a lot more playable on PC while also bringing back removed and censored content
