This caught my eye for obvious reasons, and I'm glad it did! You play as the hungriest/thirstiest bunny in the Outback who finds himself needing to learn to survive after escaping from a Gulag operated by a zealous koala. The first few weeks WILL have you struggling to survive, and I've lead the poor bunny to a his death by hunger, thirst, exhaustion or killed by a mob of snakes and bandits. The best aspect of the game for me is the survival aspect, combat could perhaps be improved but it's functional with depth to it. I think it was more I had to get the hang of it, find better weapons etc. The game is unforgiving, and being a masochist when it comes to my vidya, I love it. Keep at it and you'll get the hang of surviving in no time. My advice, play slow, gather as many resources as you can and don't underestimate cooking food, lest you get beset but x4 stomach worms. Unpleasant. Overall, I'm quite impressed. I can't wait to see what comes in later updates!

Lore/Backstory
Pawsecuted exists in an alternate timeline that diverges from ours after the first cloning of sheep in 1984. This breakthrough led to huge advances in gene editing technology, and created a world with zero ethical restrictions on modifying DNA of non-human mammals. There was massive demand from people who wanted pets with humanlike qualities. Even wild animals were being modified to become suitable as household companions. By the mid-2010's, consumers could conveniently purchase gene mods giving their pets abilities such as speech, upright movement and even higher intelligence. Almost every household had multiple pets, modded for everything from entertaining children to construction work.
In the 2020's, mammals started demanding equal rights to humans. Their demand was simple - nobody 'owns' anybody else, all mammals are free to choose their own destiny. Humanity pushed back, and the Great Mammal War for independence began. War lasted for over a decade and the world was left devastated. By the 2050's, the humans had all but been annihilated and forgotten. The only reminders of their rule are the ruined cities, towns and villages left behind.
Your story begins in the distant aftermath of this war. You are a life-long convict in a work camp run by a zealous Koala. This is all you've ever known and all you expected to ever know. Until one day...

User Reviews
An interesting mix of Neo Scavenger, Day R Survival (mobile game), and a touch of Caravaneer albeit sans the economy mechanic, plus, naturally, furries. Leveling gains you perks, combat is tactical on a hex grid, there are various potions and herbal teas for short buffs, a broad variety of melee weapons and a functional selection of guns. Top off with an open world, satisfying if basic survival mechanics, a mercenary-hiring system, a settlement building system and competently written story for a fine addition to the disappointingly small selection of "SFW furry games worth a damn."
I had played another game by this developer called This Grand Life, and out of curiosity one day checked out their developer page and saw this game. As a fan of that game, I was happy to find that this game also feels like the dev had an idea for the roots of a game and set out to competently create that. The game is similar to Neo Scavenger, where you navigate a post-apocolypitc world divided into hexs, searching points of interest for resources and items in a bid to survive. Some notable differences are Pawsecuted is less story/mystery driven, a bit more streamlined (for example, expanding your inventory is as simple as expanding your carry capacity, whereas in NS you have to roleplay as a hobo juggling things between the bags you stuffed in your backpack and shopping cart), the game feels more accessible and open (you can do any of the actions in the game whereas in NS you are locked out of things depending on your profession/choices), and the combat feels way more engaging, in con...
This game needs more recognition! There's a reason it has a 100% recommended rating, as of when I wrote this. Because it's a lot of fun! Buy this game, on sale or not. Totally worth it. The other Evolved are trying to kill you. All the animals are trying to kill you. The Outback itself is trying to kill you. You just have to survive and kill them first, which is a heck of a lot easier to write here than it is to do. I can totally see the comparisons to NEO Scavenger, as a spiritual fellow-traveler. It's hard AF early game, so play ultra-conservatively at first - focus on keeping yourself fed first, and everything else second. Edit - I wrote this bit before the 1.040 patch when they *drastically* reduced fuel usage. [strike]As a side note, vehicles are a lie. Sure, they're pretty easy to get hold of and they're cool. But in reality they are a time and resource trap. Effective, maybe, but unless I'm totally missing something, they're unsustainable under the current game balan...
I'm glad I gave the game a chance, despite the name. It's a survival heavy experience early on, but even when you have your own village and a cadre of mercenaries at your back, food and water, and sleep will be a consideration. While it's been compared to more detailed survival sims, Pawsecuted is fairly straightforward - You have four stats, hunger, thirst, sleep, and health. Health drops from combat and various states of ill-health. While you can be poisoned, bled dry, lit on fire, and riddled with bullets, it's all just health damage, and you don't need to worry about, say, infections. Early game is the most likely stage to scare you off - You're weak, alone, and even with all the benefits the tutorial grants, you can easily be done in by a couple of snakes catching you in the open while tired, and you have access to frustratingly few crafting options. Once your wayward rabbit survives the outback for a week or two, though, things open up significantly - The storyline will lea...
Good game that deserves a lot more attention. You start with struggling and after you established some minor form of survival, you can lean into settling and crafting, more skilled scavenging or raiding nests and bandit hideouts. These things can level you up too and not just killing like in many other games. Get buff and a bike with some fuel (very limited for most of the game) or become a leader of a small gang of mercenaries or create your own village and try to thrive, become rich and start filling the village with traders. You also have quit a lot of choice on the economy you lean into if you do create a settlement, but you are not forced to follow that down entirely just because of a location you choose first. You can create as many as you like basically anywhere, if you do have the resources. Make a lumber town or become a booze lord or why not both? You can also lean into ammunition making or farming - which has basically the same resource interests. The combat part has enou...
Alot of fun, if you liked Neo Scavenger you'll like this. Definetley needs alot more attention
Right now, pityfully, it is peace of shit, where all you have to do - is drink and eat. I'm not kidding. All food (consered shit or just an onion) gives you 480 hungry points. While you eat you lose around 50. Maximum hungry points - around 6000.
it fun like Neo Scavenger
Pawsecuted is a game that shows a lot of promise, especially for players who enjoy games like Battle Brothers and NEO Scavenger. While it may not quite measure up to the level of those games yet, it definitely has the potential to become something great. One thing that sets Pawsecuted apart is its unique post-apocalyptic setting, where you play as a rabbit trying to survive in a world of mutated animals and creatures. The gameplay is challenging and rewarding, with a focus on scavenging for resources and making strategic decisions to stay alive. If you're a fan of the tactical RPG genre, Pawsecuted is definitely worth checking out. It's not perfect, but it's a solid game with a lot of potential.
