About This Game

OTHER TITLES IN THE SAME GAME UNIVERSE

All ASTRO PORT games take place in the epic fictional universe known as the Astro Saga, which can be enjoyed no matter which game you experience it from!
This game, Armored Lab Force VULVEHICLES, has a particularly close connection to the following games.

Supercharged Robot VULKAISER

This game's story takes place after the Gogoh war depicted in VULKAISER. Some other key characters from VULKAISER may make an unexpected cameo as well...

WOLFLAME

The events of this game take place 5 years after the 2005 battle depicted in WOLFLAME. Manami made major modifications to the "Siebold" ship featured in this game. Manami's KAZAKURA is equipped with the same weapons as the Siebold. Cokel also fought in, and was defeated in, this same battle.

GIGANTIC ARMY

In the year 2010, the year that this game takes place, the Ramulon War depicted in GIGANTIC ARMY is still going on. News of this ongoing combat situation...as well as many of the TDF's weapons seen in that game also appear in this game.

About the Game

Overview

Raze the road less traveled with your Vulvehicle, the ultimate all-purpose armored combat machine!
Whether flying through the sky or burrowing deep underground, these gals stop at nothing to blast through terrain and enemies alike in this comical action STG!

Story

The year is 2010 AD.
The Avic branch of the Super Electric Science Institute is home to a quirky ragtag group of researchers from all corners of the galaxy living in harmony.
Until one day, the TDF (Terran Defense Force) launched an aggressive armed campaign to eliminate all alien lifeforms on Avic and takes control of the land occupied by the institute.
Standing in their way, however, is six beautiful girls armed with 12 different all-purpose armored combat vehicles known as "Vulvehicles".

Can these carefree heroines really save their research branch and bring peace back to the planet Avic?

Characters

Cokel
The imprudent screwball.
Communications officer From the planet Adry. A good-natured gal who steps up to command the ragtag defense force, but always shows her boldness at the worst possible time.
Her Vulvechs are the standard well-balanced Potato Masher and the holo decoy-equipped, disruptive beam wielding Mirage.

Rummy
The ostensibly cool collected fighter.
A close-combat specialist from the planet Chaitram. She pretends to be calm and collected but tends to become flustered easily.
Her Vulvechs are the SABER, which fires a splitting sword in a fan shape, and the DAGGER, which fires a dagger horizontally over a wide area.

Erica
The bumbling branch leader.
The assistant branch leader from the planet Ramulon. Despite her questionable leadership skills, her presence always somehow manages to keep her rambunctious bunch of subordinates in check.
Her Vulvechs are the FEVER, which burns its enemies with fire and flames, and the LIGHTING, which combines high firepower and high mobility.

Manami
The timid idealist.
The genius human mechanic who made the upgrades to the assault ship Siebold during Operation Wolfram. She is an idealistic girl who is easily influenced by and often too trusting of others.
Her Vulvechs are the KAZAKURA, equipped with bouncing ninja stars, and the GRAND MOGUL, which fires powerful drill projectiles.

Phono
Small size, big attitude.
A highly respected biologist from the planet Rilt. She is known by her coworkers, however, as a mad scientist who uses her wicked syringe on others without mercy.
Her Vulvechs are the Needle Kaiser-type wide-range attack vehicle PINK ELEPHANT and the Rocket Kaiser-type explosive attack vehicle MECH BEETLE.

Q.T
The easy-going cynic.
A Cybernetic historian who plans to document the rise and fall of the galaxy. Armed with an acid tongue, she is quick to complain and ready to make sarcastic remarks at a moments notice.
Her Vulvechs are the HOUND, which fires a barrage of homing missiles, and the BEEHIVE, which fires a barrage of refractive homing lasers.

Pretty much this game is like Blaster Master, except at the cost of no dismounting your Metal Attacker, you can have 3 tag-switching MAs at once. Also at the cost of switching weapons for your MA, tag-team switching to different pilots counts for each her own set of arsenal weapons as well as having a Omega Weapon, and there's lots of bosses. Like BM2 on Sega Genesis with a hint of BM-Zero series' upgrades, it's pretty straightforward except with a slight difference unlike in Blaster Master series: you go in after choosing 3 Pilots between one out of two of their Metal Attackers, go in, kill enemies and (unlike in BM) clear the environment out of your way (or play smart with it and use it against the enemies), get to the Area Boss, junk him, move on to the next stage. Get through Act 3 and be ready to face a nasty Mega-Mutant/Maverick boss at the 4th parts then get a Permanent Upgrade (Defense, Flight Time + Charge, Full HP bonus, Omega Ammo Max-up), for your run as you move to the n...

This tactical run-based shmup platformer with destructible terrain is currently one of my favorite games in the shmup genre! :) First of all: No, this is not hentai. The game has visual novel-esque briefings with sexy anime girls, but that's about it. Also, I shortly tried Blaster Master Zero, because I saw people compare the series to ALFV. Well, both are retro 2D platformers with tank-like vehicles that can hover under certain circumstances. But the controls and game concept are completely different, so except for the theme, I feel the comparison is a little misleading.
About the game
A single run consists of 6 areas. Each area is subdivided into 3 (linear) stages, and has a boss fight at the end. At the start of each area, you pick 3 out of the 12 vehicles, with their different weapon systems, and their various strengths and weaknesses. For example, one vehicle is equipped with a sonic weapon that can shoot through terrain without destroying it. Another vehicle can fire ...

I liked it. It feels like a good arcade game, like from old good times. Story is simple and light, jokes are silly and funny. The only bad things I can tell you about this game are it's balance and resolution. You have a good amount of vehicles, but why would you use them, if you can wipe the whole screen with just 2? (Resolution is fixable with Magpie or Lossless scaling.)
