Kena: Bridge of Spirits feels like the perfect middle ground between Zelda style exploration and puzzle-solving, and Soulslike combat without the punishing difficulty. The combat is smart and satisfying, with just enough depth to keep you engaged, but not so complex that it overwhelms. It strikes a great balance. The animation work is absolutely fantastic and every movement feels very fluid. The environments are beautiful and atmospheric, and the story, while simple, is heartfelt. It’s clear the developers poured a lot of love into every detail. If you're looking for a game that’s visually stunning and offers just the right amount of challenge, Kena is worth playing.

one of my favorite games. simple. great storytelling. great main character. fun and hard. no unnecessary fluff. no micro transactions. just a good game by a team that seemed to believe in their vision. a great game for anyone wanting to escape the monotony of modern gaming and play something that feels like a action/platformer of old. music, visuals, and gameplay are all a+.
This was a reluctant recommendation. Good stuff: The environments and graphics - the environments are lush and rich, and fun to run around in, to some degrees. The music is well done and enjoyable to listen to. The combat mechanics can be fun, though I had a lot of trouble parrying (and I'm usually fine in other games) The not so good stuff: The movement and controls are stiff and mechanical and sometimes don't even register. The enemy variety is supposedly there, but it varies wildly between being overpowered and being overpowered. The stuff that lets it down: The worse than boring story. There's nothing much going on at all, it has a few placeholder characters spouting truisms about nature and healing and you're sent around to heal nature. That idiotic pixar/dreamworks smirk that the MC seems to carry... with the graphics capabilities they had at their disposal, was this inane facial expression the best they could do? Overall: A reluctant recommendation, get it with...
TL;DR: Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a beautiful, heartfelt adventure with rewarding gameplay, stunning visuals, and one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard in a game. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys story-driven experiences. But I’d suggest playing with mouse and keyboard instead of a controller. The story is touching and engaging, with characters that feel surprisingly relatable (especially Toshi - the chief of the village). Each spirit’s journey was written with care - tragic and emotional, yet always leaving a glimmer of hope as grief fades away. These moments hit hard and left me deeply moved. The climax of the story with memories and emotions of Toshi being shown was a masterpiece. Gameplay is straightforward but satisfying. Exploration feels smooth, and combat offers just enough depth to keep things engaging. While I wasn’t a fan of a couple boss designs, fights overall were exciting, with a nice variety of skills that let you adapt your playstyle to each encounte...
It simply didn't work in terms of Souls-like hook. The combat is too primitive/boring for Souls-like, and the story is too jolly and flat. Not to mention how horrible the PC-port is so good luck playing with KBM if you prefer that. Really wanted to like it, but couldn't keep playing after 4 hours.
If you want to play Dark Souls but you're too scared with the monsters, this game is for you
10/10
1st chapter - find three McGuffins 2nd chapter - find three McGuffins but for a strong and diverse female who is looking for her partner, another strong and indepedent female. crap
Its incredibly unfortunate that there are not MORE of these games, or even indie games in this style. It is beautiful, the combat is actually pretty challenging, and I am super engrossed in the story. I wish there were more games like this, I would absolutely play them to death.
Such a cute and fun indie game. Had a great time during my play-through. Great story and fun combat no real complaints here.
