I love how the game doesn't tell you how to do everything, and says "use your imagination, if you think something is possible, it probably is". I spend the whole game without knowing i could craft a torch, i never used the explosive bottle and never used the shotgun... it makes you think and i like that
Amnesia: The Bunker marks a gripping and atmospheric addition to the renowned Amnesia series, crafted by Frictional Games, known for their mastery of psychological horror. This installment successfully revitalizes the franchise by introducing a tense, claustrophobic experience set in the grim and unforgiving environment of a World War I bunker. Moving away from the supernatural themes that defined previous entries, The Bunker grounds its horror in the stark reality of war, isolation, and human fragility, creating a deeply unsettling and immersive journey that tests both nerves and wits. From the moment you descend into the bunker’s dark, narrow corridors, the game envelops you in a suffocating atmosphere filled with dread and uncertainty. The setting is meticulously designed to amplify feelings of entrapment and vulnerability, with dim lighting, eerie ambient sounds, and a persistent sense of decay that permeates every corner. This oppressive environment is more than just a backdrop...
Amnesia The Bunker is like the classic RE4 for me. a rare case where the devs actually implemented fun gameplay in a horror game. 9/10 Currently playing NG+
This game's awesome
At first it's really hard: you get trapped constantly by the beast in dead ends for not knowing the zone layout, or can't find a way to progress through an obstacle. But once you get the hang of it, you start to understand that it really puts you in the place of the survivor with amnesia. You must make careful use of your resources, explore to understand more of the situation, know where you are at all times to navigate through the dark, and sometimes even stop for a while to really think how to move forward. The random nature of the beast's behavior and pathing makes it super realistic and keeps you on the edge of your seat at all times; and the noise mechanics are very polished. Also there are a lot of mechanics that you can discover while playing (I kept discovering new things even after 15 hours of playing). Also, unlike the other Amnesia games, this one is really replayable, because of the modifiers and shellshock difficulty. And it's not ju...
The game tries to be Alien Isolation/Monstrum but IMO fails to deliver an honest gameplay. (Alien isolation finished at the highest difficulty and basically 100% Monstrum) - being in the dark is a bad idea since the monster can see in the dark, but having lights turned on will not change a thing since they will flicker. - most (if not all) of the early items are basically useless (gun included, surprise-surprise) - constantly having the monster around even while not making noises becomes just a chore and not in a good way. - recharging the flashlight every 20 seconds is a chore too but i get it... IF the game allows you to be stealth in the dark OR beign able to counter the monster with the flashlight, even if it was just for a couple of seconds. Unfortunately this is not the case.
I can see how this game can be enjoyable for people but to me this isn't my thing, the beast refuses to leave ever which makes sense but it's just annoying as hell, i legit sat in a room for 20 minutes waiting for it to leave. most of my play time is waiting under a table or bed waiting, it's boring and not my cup of tea. I'm not trying to downplay the game it has a lot of cool stuff and features but I really don't like wasting 2 hours of my life on waiting for it to fuck off.
Absolutely incredible game. Pretty limited in scope, but my god have they made the most of the map. I have a lot of nostalgia for the original Amnesia games, and this builds on them massively... scared the living daylights out of me.
It like playing early 2000's adventure game flashlight is a constant annoyance. Gameplay isn't practical for this game type. game isn't scary it just boring. still wakes the deep was much better game. seem like fractional games still can't make a better game than the Chinese room. If you like the boring Amnesia dark decent, then this game is literally the same game. if you like Soma then look the other way. why innovate when you can just make old games, that look like shit and play like it too.
unless you play the game a few times over and conserve your gas your very much screwed my 2nd play through got me further as i kinda new what i was doing as i got to find more new things out that took me awhile on normal play through and ran out of gas making the game next to impossable to get to the next step the slightest noise triggers the demon and is just frustration to even play great game just needs more fuel available to make it even worth playing for a first timer i found on 2nd play through i would save when i was at my best piss around trying to figure the next step then reload my save and speed run the next part then save and then try figure out next part reload save then do what i needed to do to conserve the gas to keep the lights on to make the game somewhat playable 2 out of 10 for me due to lack of gas
