About This Game

Lose yourself in the world of New York, 2329, where immortality comes at a price that someone has to pay. Following a near-death experience, Detective James Karra takes an off-the-books case from his chief with only the help of a young police liaison, Sara Kai, to assist him. Time reveals all as they risk everything in pursuit of a killer, uncovering the dark secrets of the city's elite.

Experience a noir adventure in an alternate future of New York City in 2329; technology has advanced to offer humans eternal life, allowing consciousness to be stored in memory banks or transferred from one body to another. That is, if you can afford the subscription.

See through the eyes of Mortality Department Detective James Karra on his hunt for a serial killer who targets the city’s elite citizens. Investigate crime scenes using his time manipulation augmentation and advanced technology to reconstruct events leading up to each murder and uncover clues that lead to the horrifying truth behind the murders.

Lose yourself in a dystopian future through this meaningful and original interactive detective story, that explores the dangers of transhumanism and immortality. In a world of eternal life and vanishing morality, you, a hardened detective, must navigate the lines of right and wrong in a society where death is a distant memory.

Utilising the power of Unreal Engine 5, Nobody Wants to Die pushes the boundaries of storytelling, combining photorealistic graphics and a distinctly unique narrative experience.

It's an interactive movie, about 4 hours long, but if you get it in sale for like 10 euro like me, it can be fun. The only thing that I don't like is that the game has multiple endings and you can't load previous chapters to see all of them.. And I didn't find it good enough to play it twice.

The game accomplishes what it sets out to do pretty well, I loved the narrative and setting. Cyberpunk New York mixed with 1920s Noir creates an intriguing and beautifully crafted world. The detective gameplay is heavily on-rails and gets a little stale soon, but it makes up for it with a narrative that really pulls you in. I was constantly reminded of Altered Carbon in a good way and I love the societal, existential and moral problems the story touches upon. Sadly, the game suffers a bit from shotty voice acting at times, some of the dialogue is noticably re-recorded and sounds different, which ruins immersion and flow a bit. Apart from that, the VA is mostly well done. 7/10

Visually stunning, Nobody Wants to Die nails the aesthetic it was going for. Gritty 1920's style noir meets a futuristic, almost steampunk-y city. The developers really took great care in capturing exactly the sort of world they wanted, and at times you simply have to stop and marvel at it. Everything about how this game looks and feels is incredible. Unfortunately, the game itself doesn't quite measure up to the vibe it generates. The time manipulation case solving mechanic is unique and a fun way to explore the cases you have to solve. Until you realise they solve themselves. You're not using critical thinking, you're just watching "interactively" what happens. It's basically a visual novel wrapped in an intriguing wrapper. The story is good, but probably doesn't quite work overall, especially once you realise the game doesn't actually challenge you, and only a couple of choices you make actually matter. Even then, they don't matter that much. If this was a tech demo for w...
TLDR: A creative premise, beautifully crafted world, and stellar graphics barely make up for the disappointing and disjointed narrative.

PROS:
➕Graphics & futuristic artstyle ➕Detective mechanics ➕Excellent game world - futuristic noir
CONS:
➖Voice acting is pretty flat ➖Crash to desktop count = 1 ➖When solving, the objectives and order of sequence can be confusing ➖Lack of puzzle solving due to game being too “On-rails” ➖Often confusing and disjointed narrative ➖Poor ending
Content (Game world/Narrative) – [6/10]
The game world is awesome, and something I wish I could spend time exploring. It's a mesh of noir cyberpunk and Matrix worlds full of dystopian vibes and settings. Unfortunately, the game is very on-rails so you don’t really get to take in this intriguing place as much as you’d like to. You really only visit about 5 different closed-in locations. Many of these locations in fact have a go...

First off i gotta say the visual astetics is amazing and i love the mechanics. The main downside i have to this is the amount of handholding this game has, i got the game expecting it was a detective figure it yourself simulator but everything is really just handed to you. I honestly wouldnt mind side stuff to do to try and figure out who culprits are without guidance to help drive the thinking factor but that really wasnt the case. Also the ending really didnt feel all the great and while got me thinking it ultimately was a bit of a letdown. The theme, the style, the graphics the gameplay really got me interested and they are fantastic, but the story, especially near the end i had the "I dont really enjoy this so i hope it ends soon" feeling just to see if there was something worthwhile in the end, but led to dissappointment.

Amazing visuals, atmosphere, aesthetics and theme of the entire world, the concept is certainly unique, but also horrifying to think about, which makes it even better. It's probably one of the most dystopian games i've ever played, there is no almost no hope at all, the world is an empty husk, which is also fitting to the lore itself. They really pulled off the noir, steampunk, 1930s-1950s America look, everything matches well. The audio quality is pretty good, soundtracks are decent aswell. Controls are quite basic and easy to learn. Gameplay itself is mostly just walking around and solving puzzles, very casual, but enjoyable. I would say the biggest downsides of the game are : 1) Choices really don't matter, other than 2 major ones, which is very Telltale-ish, but somehow even more limited. A lot of dialogue gets locked out and there's no rhyme or reason to even begin to understand, how to unlock them. For a game all about dialogue, it is definitely on the weak...

Great neo-noir, near-cyberpunk detective story for a couple of evenings. Optimization could be better, but overall a solid 8/10.

I just did a marathon play through of this game and found it can really drag in between detective sections and doesn't have enough detective sections in the game. Even trying to search for everything, there are just blocks put in place that stop you from figuring things out. The game holds your hand pretty hard and doesn't let you figure out the mystery on your own, worse even if you stop and take your time you will be blocked from figuring our anything until the the hand holding catches up. It could have easily been done with their own mechanics, but they just didn't because they need to add in more animations of your character wildly swerving, drinking and vomiting. In cut scenes they have so many interesting things happening, most of which you can't look at because they don't let you control the camera. You WILL look at what they think is important and can't take in the whole scene even if you have been looking at that thing for the last 10 mins. I really thought this could have w...

I don't get why people don't like this game This is THE Cyberpunk game. Have y'all nerds EVER read a Cyberpunk book? Neuromancer is about a hacker uncovering a larger conspiracy Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is about a bounty hunter with questions to what it means to be a human Altered Carbon is about transferring consciousnesses uncovering a conspiracy Count Zero is about corporate espionage In all of these books, especially the proto-Cyberpunk novels of Philip K. Dick, you see a lot of jazz and blues, everything is synthetic, real steak and alcohol is insanely hard to find, the ''Detective'' speak as Peter Gunn character used to talk like in the same-named show back in 1958. The books, their iterations, have always been written to be dramatic, cinematic, have that futuristic noir, retro-futuristic technical design and a grimy outlook on future with a capitalistic dystopia where governments are allowing corporates to do anything with human lives, to find immortality,...
