I am a long time fan of Cook Serve Delicious ever since the original which I thought was possibly the greatest innovation within the cooking game genre. I cannot find it within myself, no matter how hard I try to like Cook Serve Forever, to recommend this game. The original required a combination of reading comprehension, typing dexterity and good time management. Managing multiple tickets at once (especially with the implementation of holding stations in later games) made you feel the stress of being behind the pass. This game requires none of this. It's a button mash em up with about 7 different orders of quick time event. It fails so severely as a cooking game I don't even know what I am cooking 99% of the time because the only thing I am looking at is the bottom 2 inches of the screen for what buttons to mash. Every order is processed one at a time, there is no rush except to get the highest rating on levels that require it and after the order is done you can infinitely sit th...

I've always been a fan of the Cook Serve Delicious games and stepping in to this one knowing it was a different experience had me a bit concerned. I first played this game very early in its development and the gameplay did not click with me and felt frustrating. Fast forward to now the game is fully out and I have revisited it and I must say I am extremely impressed with all the changes that have went in to the experience. The gameplay feels rewarding and requires a lot of coordination with both of your hands simultaneously. Motions feel like the items you are prepping and as I got better at performing them the more I connected with quickly completing recipes. By the time I reached the end of the game, I didn't even need the on-screen instructions and could just do the motions based on color alone. Throw PSCR out the window, a new lasagna muscle memory has come to town. I have always found the Cook Serve franchise to be underrated with it's world building and writing and the narrativ...

If you enjoy rhythm games and a good story then this game will be for you! I am a huge fan of the Cook Serve Delicious series and this game is a great spin off. The story, the art, the voice acting and gameplay are all really well developed! The gameplay is more relaxed than the main series but it is a nice change of pace (more of an end of your day game to relax with than a throw your computer in frustration). There are still challenges within the game, such as the blitz modes which have that feel of impossibility that the original series provides. I really enjoyed playing as Nori and listening to Brie and the world around them. It is a really well imagined world full of a lively cast of characters who come to life through brilliant voice acting. The art is absolutely stunning all the way to the end credits. The background music is also soundtrack worthy and deserves to be mentioned. I know some people were disappointed that this isn't your typical chaotically difficult CSD ...

I thought the game was conceptually lackluster during early access, but I genuinely like all aspects of the game now that it is finished. As a spin-off of the original CSD line of games, the game is significantly different in mechanics and presentation, but it has much to offer. Unlike in CSD, in CSF you are focused on cooking only one dish at a time. But CSF still channels the frenetic energy of CSD gameplay by forcing you to simultaneously read two different sequences of inputs while making a single dish. It's novel, but still challenging. Some other reviewers complained about the controls, but I thought keyboard input was fine as long as you position your hand to use your index, middle, and ring fingers. The game does not have a sandbox aspect like CSD - you do not get to pick what items to put on your menu and you do not get to earn money to by decorations and upgrades. CSF is not a restaurant or food truck simulator. The main focus for CSF is on its narrative. It features a lin...

They give out that award every year for "Labor of Love". This game feels like reading someone else's love letter.

Do you want to dual-wield in the kitchen? This is your chance. Figuring out how to optimize a recipe by juggling how the actions will land in each hand is uniquely satisfying. It doesn't take much to advance the story, but the challenges require a high level of pattern recognition and muscle memory.

The game is amazing. Great game play, great music, great story, I was addicted till the end. The game definitely isn't exactly like the old games but I think it's amazing. It's so satisfying to play and once you get into a rhythm it feels just like the rhythm you get in csd 1-3. I would recommend everyone try it out, and give the controls a chance. They might feel a bit off at first, but once you get used to them it is genuinely amazing to play. It feels like if trying to rub your head and pat your stomach was a game in the best way possible. Controller is definitely recommended. Keep up the great work vertigo gaming!

Overall: I enjoyed it. Though I'd prob give it a 6/10. This was definitely a labor of love! However, even though I enjoyed it, I probably wouldn't recommend it as of now, main reason being the price point in relation to the amount of content. Gameplay was a bit hard to adjust to, especially coming from the previous CSD games. If anything, it was sortof like the 1st CSD where you would have to do certain actions to perform the cooking step, and it would be the same sequence for that step throughout the whole game. Pros: Story was nice, art was great, fun callbacks to the previous CSDs. Enjoyed the dialogue between characters during cooking. There was definitely a much bigger focus on narrative/story this time around. Did not have to hit 100% accuracy (less stress) in order to get the 'holo stickers'. The 'delicious' timer was fairly generous imo, and easier to hit once you got used to the controls. The blitz mode was fairly challenging to hit 'gold'. Cons: Unfortunately, I don't t...
