About This Game

You wake up in the year 4000 to find the world has evolved into an alien wasteland. Your task is to travel north to reach what may be the last human on Earth.
Explore, fight monsters, scavenge loot, and run out of food as you do whatever it takes to survive in a vast procedurally generated world full of otherworldly monsters.

Choose Your Character

Play as a scavenging hobo, a candy-crazed child, a gadget-clad secret agent, a mystical druid, a knife-wielding punk, a mutating lab experiment, and more.
Each class starts with their own loadout of starting equipment and special perks. Each one has their own strengths and weaknesses that cater to a unique playstyle.

Find Artifacts

Magical wands, flamethrowers, katanas, and jetpacks have been left abandoned on the ground. Loot is randomly generated every game, meaning you have to adapt to what the wasteland provides.

Learn Special Abilities

Deadland 4000 has no experience points. Instead, tomes of experience are scattered throughout the land. Reading these will allow you to learn new abilities that will impact your entire run. Become a werewolf at night, photosynthesize your own food, see farther at night, or grow an extra head.

Explore A Hostile World

Navigate overgrown cornfields, dark desert highways, and desecrated suburbs.

Be careful, wildlife has evolved. Many vicious predators roam the wastes, and you're on the bottom of the food chain.

Enemies can be avoided by staying out of their circle of vision. Be careful, firing guns can create noise, and certain enemies will set off alarms alerting everyone nearby to your location

Keep Moving Forward

The world generates in a straight line. Every biome is connected with no loading zones or level barriers.

Take shelter from weather events such as acid rain and solar flares by waiting out the storm in indoor structures. Rest or take your chances exploring at night with reduced visibility.

Every Run is a Story

Your characters only live once, and as a wise man once said: "Losing is fun"

Simple yet fun survival coffee-break roguelike in which the horizontal area of the game is limited and you move up to progress, making each run quick and not exhausting. A surprising amount of items and mutations provide great replay value.

A challenging and fun turn based roguelike, with interesting and impactful items. Contrary to many other games, you can use almost everything you find in the right situation. While the count of items is not huge, they are well thought out and bring enough variety to keep it fresh, so quality over quantity. You will after a while encounter the same enemy's, area's and item's quite often, but using what you get in the right way and managing your resources makes for a good challenge. The developer obviously cares about their game, and it's community, so if you write in the forums there is a good chance, that they will read it and try to fix any possible bugs one might encounter. If you try to accomplish everything there is, you can spend a lot of time in mastering the game and completing it, so the game can offer a lot more playtime than what I am having right now, which is very good for the price tag. If you like to put on external music while playing, I'd recommend Darksynth, since...

Cat and mouse game of carefully choosing when to engage and not engage in combat. 3 hours in and I still haven't finished a single run yet (I've played about 5 runs). I enjoy the randomness of the world generation and each of the characters you choose from play differently enough to add variety to the gameplay. I do have one major point of feedback though: When you get a mutation it's "random". I'd like to see it implemented where you can't roll the same random mutation twice. Looking at you "1% chance to go berserk".

This game is a weird post-apocalyptic gritty and humorous trek north. It has a serious food mechanic and a punishing inventory management system. I have really enjoyed my treks thru this hazardous wasteland. My only critique is: a piece of candy shouldn't take up the same inventory space as sniper rifle. This game was well worth the money spent.

Deadland 4000 takes the Rogue-like genre and distills it down to its finest form; providing very fun experiences that last about an hour or two. This is an amazing Rogue-like for the busy, risk averse, or if you want to have some fun in this genre without a lot of skill point planning and or plot/story stuff. The runs in this game typically take around an hour or two and if you need to walk away there is a save feature so you can come back later and pickup where you left off. So if you die its upsetting of course, but its not completely crushing. This game has a very diverse pool of different buffs, debuffs, items, mutations (both good and bad), weapons, etc. The weather events are a nice touch as well. There's also several characters/classes you can play as that have their own unique abilities. The art style is simple but its colorful. I like when my games are slightly animated, I'm not a fan of the idle portraits. I'd like to see some more unique animations in the future but hone...
