For a game that promises precision platforming it has random elements such as unpredictable enemy behavior and fast projectiles without patterns that makes it less of a precision platforming and more "hope you get a good sequence as you bash your head against this obstacle". I love a challenge but only when I know failing is on me and not the game's poor mechanics.

The Underdusk is a atmospheric Metroidvania with a dark ambience to it. Its both relaxing and creepy at the same time. The world is large and varied and exploration is rewarded. The game has a Percentage complete stat so I am very happy! I am really enjoying my time in the game so far and have obtained several of the power ups and am eager to explore and find the others. The world map is very useful and many of the quality of life touches you want in a Metroidvania are present in The Underdusk There appears to be a great amount of content and exploration in The Underdusk and I am enjoying my time with the game and will definitely be playing some more. I recommend this game and wish the developer great success!

Visually decent, but the level design is insanely boring and plain, and player movement speed is obnoxiously slow. About 20 minutes in you finally get a sprint button, and the sprint is still almost slower than any other platformers base speed. Navigating/exploring this game is one of the most painfully slow and tedious experiences I've ever had in my life. Would not recommend.

I haven't spent a really long time on the game yet, but what I have played so far I have really enjoyed, and can't wait to explore more. Reminds me of a mix of Shove knights art and Hollow Knight Metroidvania gameplay added with a creepy vibe, the game drops you into its dark world with only a single goal in mind, you must explore and found your way with what looks like very little hand holding with some challenging points that haven't felt unfair. Its been fun making mental notes of places I will probably need to return to once I unlock more powers, having only unlocked one so far. Exploration is key to this game, with more story being told as you find and collect more. If your a fan of metroidvanias, I would say give this lovely game a go!

Easily one of the most frustrating games I have played in awhile. The only positive thing I have to say about the game is the artstyle and the music. I find the random natures of most enemies, especially those with projectiles, to be aggressively poor design. It makes several rooms (especially most "boss" rooms) feel like complete luck. As a result it never feels satisfying to accomplish rooms, because it never feels earned. Also the movement speed in the game is atrociously slow. The "sprint" brings the speed up to what most games would consider "walking". I'm not sure why it's so slow, it never felt like it added to the experience, only served to make repeated walk-backs after each random death all the more frustrating. If you enjoy "hard" platformers that are only challenging because of RNG, then this game is for you. Otherwise, I'd highly suggest passing. Especially if you're quick to frustration when playing a game. I think this game would've landed more appropriately back in th...

Into the Underdusk is a solid metroidvania with a nice story supported by a great atmosphere (kudos to the soundtrack that does a wonderful job creating it) and solid controls. The platforming phases are not really that precise and brutal but there are some difficult situations that can throw off the least experienced players (more on that later). I really loved the NES vibe this game gave me, it took me back to that wonderful period where games were sometimes unfair but enjoyable. If that sentence feels weird, maybe Into the Underdusk is not for you. Because yes, the game does suffer from a few flaws or bizarre choices that sometimes create unfair situations and that can frustrate some of the most impatient or inexperienced players out there. But you also have to realize that this game has been developped by a single person that kept his day job and in only 6 months. If you ask me, that's quite the impressive feat. The first weird choice is that you start by walking and the running ...

What could have been a fun precision platformer is instead a redo of "I wanna be the guy" because the developers thought designing enemies with attacks that have random timing and/or direction is a good idea in a precision platformer. The result is that most of the time you die it will be because of RNG and not because of your own mistakes. This is made worse by how far apart the savepoint can be at times. To the developers I recommend this: Buy celeste, play it, win it, then fix your game.

Only just exploring the world, but it does some really interesting things with the "dead" world. Enjoying it so far! Looking forward to playing some more.

Into the Underdusk is a unique, story driven Metroidvania with solid level design. Im enjoying how the mystery of the narrative is unfolding as you find things in the world.

Enjoyed it much more than I expected I would. Exploration based metroidvania with no combat (you can only avoid enemies and their attacks) that managed to hold my attention throughout the entire ~10h it took me to beat it. As fun as it was there were a few issues constantly hampering my enjoyment: - Way too RNG based. Enemies move in random patterns, shoot projectiles in random directions and at random intervals. In rooms full of them, finally managing to beat them comes down to mostly luck and feels like bashing your head against the wall, which is really weird for an otherwise pin-point precision platformer. - Very annoying and tedious to sit through death screen. You're meant to die in this game. A lot. To keep retrying. And instead of instantly teleporting you back to the checkpoints, as most games like these do, you have to sit through a short cutscene, which is also pretty loud. Wasn't a fan. - Can be hard to figure out where to go sometimes. You do get occasional vague tips, but...
