About the Game

Welcome to Grimlord - a Dark Fantasy Action Souls-like RPG built on Unreal Engine 5 for VR. Awakened in a monastery deep in the Lonely Mountains, you walk in an epic quest as the adventurer standing before the darkness and striving for the light against the tyrannical Grim Lord.

You’re a prisoner in a monastery somewhere deep in the Lonely Mountains. You are free to choose how to fight your way out. Choose your way of becoming a battling adventurer whilst standing before the darkness.

Grimlord brings combat in VR like never before. With a ton of unique enemies sprawling the monastery grounds capable of showing you their individual combat prowess, you’re left to learn how to deal with them efficiently - for survival’s sake.

Are you a battle-hardened sword & shield adventurer or a staff-wielding magic artist? Maybe a long-ranged bow & arrow assassin? How about an agile dual-wielding bladesman? Even go wild as a shield & dagger throwing specialist? The choice is yours, prisoner.

With boss battles meant to test your accumulated skills and knowledge, each encounter assures every prisoner’s adventure to strive for the light is as unique as it can be.

3 crashes in 3 different areas of the tutorial, the fucking tutorial, when i open the first door, when i hit an enemy and when i try to drink a potion, i tried lowering the graphics to see if that would fix it, nothing, honestly, i don't want to keep triying considering every crash takes like 5 minutes each, and is so fucking annoying because i really wanted to try this game

Good souls like. Very good. Character is quite underpowered against bosses at first, but you can use kings gaze amulet for that. As you level up, unlock stronger weapons and level them up by getting crystals in arena you'll become stronger, noticably so, there is no enemy autoscaling so it all feels worth it. Game is fun, well polished, has all voice acted characters and contains good amount of content. Recomend.

I love the combat. Enemies are rigged and give a good sense of resistance. The Parry system is awesome. Leveling's solid. The physics are great. Being accurate is super rewarding. One think I will say is you always want to stay a step or two away from an enemy, like many VR games, if you stand chest to chest with an enemy things stop working right.

So far in i'm not fully done yet but so far i'd say a very solid game. Combat feels good and mechanics feel fleshed out. A little light in the game aspects like no proper inventory. Weapons can kind of feel hard to use properly especially against bosses. Some pretty big jank with ai at times, bosses were for some reason made really big and even when they aren't they're in armor and the feedback against armor is pretty bad i mean feedback in general can be pretty bad but overall so far i'd say on sale it's worth it. Still a cool idea and I think it could be executed better and have more polish overall but as a core design and simple game it does well. VR is already a niche market so i'm not expecting game of the year but i'd say a solid 6 leaning towards 7/10. Better than bonelabs at least

this game made my 1660 super beg for mercy, but it's nice otherwise. my pc died, unrelated, and the free trial that they got going on quest let me try it there. I had doubts, but it runs better there than it did on my pc. slashes don't work more than half the time, just phasing my weapon straight through the enemy's neck, but i'm confident they'll fix it. I'll be buying it on quest when i have the money.

The player and the enemy get stuck together when standing close to attack, and the player has to take damage in that situation because it's a soul-like game, and it happens very often, a pretty bad experience for me, I was expecting quite a lot when I saw the game was in the soul-like genre
