Pretty good so far, it seems to be locked to 1080 or below by default, but it's not too bad not something to thumbs down the entire game over, weirdly enough as a Unity game usually you'd be able to mess with Launch Settings in steam for custom Resolution but that seems to not work as on startup it re-defaults to the settings in the game EDIT: Fix has been found for this 1. Go to Super Robot Wars Y's Exe and select properties 2. go to compatability and select "Change High DPI Settings" 3. enable "high DPI Scaling Override" 4. in the drop down menu select "System" 5. Apply 6. Go to Steam Launch Options in Properties for SRW Y 7. in the text box input -screen-width <width> -screen-height <height> 9. replace <width> and <height> with desired resolution 10. You can now play the game at any resolution For the love of god, never touch Window or Resolution settings in the PC Settings menu for all that is holy So far pretty good, with the engine change comes a lot of improvements such as the...

User Reviews
Note that almost all the negative reviews are complaining about resolution or hyperanalyzing the shape of the healthbars like an anime edition of American Psycho, and the positive reviews are talking about the gameplay and writing. Ask yourself which of those things matters more to you in a game that is half a visual novel, half robot fire emblem and 100% 2D. The game is an a massive step up from 30 in all the ways that matter. The crossover setting is cohesive again, consequently the character writing is much improved, returning to the sort of cross-series interactions that were the hallmark of the series prior to 30 instead of the hollow, talking-past each other style present in that game, the numerous changes to the core gameplay systems are all for the better, the high difficulty settings are actually good for the first time in a decade (At least if you don't rush to make a review after playing solely the tutorial chapter), the nonlinear mission system is much improved both in te...
To preface, this is not a 2025 game. UI looks probably the worst out of any modern SRW titles. They reused a lot of assets from older games, and most of the new animations look pretty janky. Also, I am so used to modern games having fully voiced dialogues that I was immediately thrown off by the silent dialogue. Tbf tho, SRW has always been this way because of licensing or whatever bs it was. Honestly, this did not look like a game that took four years to make. If you are not a die hard SRW fan, I would at least wait for a sale. That being said tho, I paid for the ultimate edition and I won't be refunding since I'm a sucker for SRW and is just happy they haven't given up on this franchise. I at least hope that the $120 I paid is going toward OG3 (copium). When that game comes out, my life will be complete. EDIT: After playing this game after 5 hours on expert mode, I have to say that they have finally included an actual difficult mode without being unreasonable like super expert mode+...
Four years for this new dev team to learn how the unity engine works and make the game. Only for them to fuck it up and publish low quality slop with SRW sticker on it. The game is a complete downgrade from the last few games like SRW V,X,T and 30. Every quality of life improvement that added to those games removed from SRW Y. Only for them replace it with a ugly ui, no higher resolution other 1080 or 1200. No option to keep the subtitles when removing the ui elements during battle animations like in those pervious games. Plus the movement of the units on the map during the enemy phase just looks slow, even when pressing the button down to speed up the process. Getting custom music to work in this game is also a problem even when following the guide people have posted. Unless you willing to shell out 130 usd to get the full licensed sound track to use in game. Overall this game is Super Robot Wars version of New Gundam Breaker poor decisions, and removal of gameplay features, along with...
So far really nice, the 1080p isn't even a big deal, the game is cartoonish enough to not need more than 1080p, the attack animations are pre-rendered sprites and the strategic map/gameplay is like PS1-2 graphics anyways like always, only with the AA x8 and 1080p is more than enough to see it like in any other SRW game, it looks good, i don't see the issue at all, Robot fans will have a great time!
i see a lot of positive comment and negative comment but for me i want to support this game and hope you bandai will continue to do OG Series after Terada left your company and not update his twitter i hope he still ok I See this Article { Super Robot Wars, Bomberman development studio files for bankruptcy after 35 years in the industry } it feel bad that old dev that develop this game gone But i hope current dev team not let this series die so you have my full support pls don't do only DD game
Easily the best modern mainline English-localized SRW of the last five entries (V, X, T, 30, Y). Most interconnected in story the game's franchises have been in any English-translated game since W. Content dense without being content bloated (we're looking at you 30. Harder difficulties that are actually fun. While I'll always be sad about not getting any new OG games, I'm afraid the fresh new blood of SRW devs actually cooked with this one. It's an incredible entry from the new lead/team.
Huge return to form after 30, think its the game you should pick up if you want the easiest way to see what SRW has to offer in English.
I played all of the SRW games and out of the recent ones in the last decade or so, this is the best one of the bunch. Breath of fresh air with the change in mechanics and balancing to make the game more challenging for veteran players, you can no longer spam spirits and EX actions like previous series, and Expert mode is actually HARD. Expert mode went from a walk in the park to a dark souls game for me, which is very welcoming as now I have to make use of the different mechanics in the game to min/max my units to win. This is especially great when they seemed to have thrown the entire animations budget on a few popular units (looking at you wing zero) which I plan to build my team around. The most jarring change to me was the UI, which admittedly I wouldn't say is "good" but I understand where they are going with it (old SRW UI is very stereotypical of a japanese game, very dated). This looks cleaner and I'll just have to get used to it, but the transitions from map to battles are so...
SRW Y is pretty good but it does have some issues. They improved certain things from SRW 30 but also did things that are a step back. I'll try to break some of it down as best as I can: Pros: + Way better roster than it's predecessor SRW 30. + Crossover character interactions are much better than SRW 30. + Challenging game especially in the beginning but I find it fun as long as it's not impossible hard then it's cool. + Most of the animations are recycled from past SRW games but at least they added cut-ins, extra animations and dynamic kills for some attacks that didn't have any from SRW 30 (Nu Gundam's full assault). I can't think of anything else besides that. Cons: - I think having the game be accessible for weaker hardware is a great thing but there's absolutely no reason why I have to look for a guide on how to bypass the locked 1080P 60FPS. There needs to be an option to go 1440P or 4K for people who have capable hardware within the in-ga...
