Path to Ruin tells the story of Mallet (goes by "Mal") and Barrow, who grew up in captivity, in a gulag. What starts off as just an ordinary day for them, takes them down the rabbit hole of an unlikely journey to discover their past and forge a new future. It has a blend of sci-fi and fantasy elements. I get the impression from the world so far that it's some kind of dark age, and that it used to be more prosperous in the past, I am not sure though, I was just getting started with the Journey when it came to an end. At a certain point you get a screen that says "the next part will be available in a future update", so I guess I'll have to wait. I'd still recommend the game though. Pros: 1. Great custom art style. 2. Balanced mechanics, tough but fair 3. Interesting Story so far. 4. Music is pretty good. 5. Likable/interesting characters Cons: 1. Too short, I know it will be longer in the end, but I was just starting to get into it, when the journey came to an abrupt end. I will k...

I've been following this game's development in a few RPG Maker groups for quite a while. Ever since I saw that first image of the main character I was pretty much sold and every new bit of info only added to my excitement. And here we are (years? Has it been years already!?) with the first part of the game finally available! And I'm happy to report that the wait was worth it. Path to Ruin is a fantastic little game that has a lot of charm around every corner. The character interactions are great and I found myself laughing pretty often. The main characters go from trial to trial sort of accidentally escaping their imprisonment and learning more about Mal's past. My favorite thing about this game was actually perhaps a blunder on my part. I was foolishly saving in just one save file thinking, this game is being really nice and chill, it's not going to have any point of no returns or anything. How wrong I was, what a rookie RPG player blunder. I got stuck in a cave, way too under lev...

While currently it's quite a short experience its also a very fun one. It has some fun characters and writing with a intriguing premise a sort of sci-fantasy dystopian world at least for day one anyway breaking away from the normal tropes with its character design. Also there are some fun nods to other famous rpg series in there. Gameplay wise its a traditional turn based rpg playing pretty much how you would expect but for a nice twist the main character Mal is not a fighter but a black mage archetype with his first spell being one I would usually ignore in a game but in this is very useful. It is in very early access though with the devs planning to add more as it goes along so considering the price if it looks in vaguely interesting to you I would pick it up now

This game is pretty good I'll say. I won't really make an analysis or anything (I guess), just say what I saw and stuff. First the world set is pretty unique, I like the mix of scifi and kind of dystopian fantasy with a lot of characters designs and a sense of mystery and loneliness. It makes it feel kind of like a foreign world that feels also relatable because the characters are pretty cool too. I mean their personalities, not just their designs, that like I said, are cool, and also very varied, from humans, to... weird fairies and others unique characters. This kind of gives freedom to make some scenarios that with another setting might come out weird. And the fact that the game has some good sense of humor too. The music is quiete good too, with some tunes that are kind of chill and mysterious that fits the world perfectly. The battles are also fine, kind of on the easy side, I believe. Though that is not a bad thing for me, while I like difficulty in games, I also like more chi...

Its super fun to play, the music is amazing, controls and interactions in game are very easy going, the characters are identifiable, the story and personalities of everyone are well distinguished! Combat is easy going as well, expect harder fights in the future!

This review is no reflection of the game's quality but my own time management. From what I've played already, it's pretty lovely and the sprite work is good, nice story. I urge the developers to carry on improving the game. Always check indie titles out, it's important. Maybe at some point when I'm not so busy I'll check it out again.

A very simple RPG with some hand drawn characters and artwork- seems to get better the further you get but it's a little slow to build, also a bit quirky in places but I do recommend it overall. Here's my first look at the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeOCaXu60vc&t=219s
