About This Game

The year is 1987, and as the clock strikes midnight in small-town Gallows Creek, USA, former big city radio DJ Forrest Nash is live on air in what will turn out to be the graveyard shift of a lifetime...

In this horror comedy, you must solve puzzles to save callers from being hunted down by a mysterious killer. Where every call is life and death, can you save the inhabitants of Gallows Creek?

Unique 1st person narrative:

Step into the shoes of a late-night radio talk-show host – new in town and fallen from grace. The Police Chief is dead… so the townsfolk turn to you for help, as apparently you, Forest Nash are the only person in town who can run a phone line.

Real-time decisions and puzzle solving:

Use branching dialogues to interact with a variety of eccentric small-town personalities including potential victims and suspects. Explore your surroundings, gather clues, make decisions, solve satisfying riddles, and try to help each of your callers survive the night.

Retro Slasher setting:

Jump back in time to 1987 with this slasher inspired puzzler – explore an authentically detailed radio station and interact with dozens of physics-based objects straight from a bygone era, including a working cassette and record player. With a fully voiced cast and a killer original soundtrack of 80's inspired tunes from rock classics to synthwave!

Killer Frequency has one of the more unique concept for a horror-mystery game. The game heavily relies on it's sound design as you play as a radio host, unravelling the mystery while helping out callers. Overall a really complete package as far as interactive fiction goes. It's fun and the puzzles are pretty straight-forward and just enough suspense to keep you on the edge. What I really liked is the 80's vibe and and it's art style. The voice actors did fantastic job carrying the game, as majority of it the game involves you listening to the dialogues. The game itself is relatively short, which is good as it's not padded with unnecessary content. Overall it's a pretty solid game. I'll give it a 7/10 because of it's creativity and fun game design. It is hard to justify it's hefty price tag but it's often heavily discounted so would definitely recommend to pick it up during discounts.

I really wanted to like Killer Frequency; the '80s vibes and horror comedy theme is charming, and the idea of unraveling a mystery while manning a radio station is a novel one. Unfortunately, this game didn't deliver for me. Several of the puzzle "solutions" seem completely arbitrary, and one wrong choice leads to the caller's death. It feels like the developers want you to quick-save before every decision, which devolves into a puzzle game where you just try every option until you get it right. As the game went on, the novelty of the aesthetic wore off, and I was left increasingly frustrated until I decided I didn't even want to see whatever the big reveal at the end was going to be. I hope I am missing something obvious that makes this game click, as I've seen a lot of positivity around this game, but from my experience alone I cannot recommend it.

This was actually a really cool experience, and clocking in at 5 hours it was worth the money. The premise of the game is a little silly, given that an emergency line operator can't just deputize a radio show host (or at least I wouldn't think so) but over all it was a really fun concept that I think most people will enjoy. The game has kind of a cell shaded art style which looked really nice, the music and sounds of the game were good. All in all, a strong recommend. If you'd like to see some game play of it, you can check out the link below to my play through: https://youtu.be/pUGwIwJc8Vs If you don't mind dropping a sub (it's free), please do. It helps me out a lot and would be really cool of you.

I am pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it was to play. At first, I thought it was just another crappy horror game with cheap jump scares, but no - there's none of that here. Instead, we get a cool adventure game in the style of the 80s, where, as a radio host, we try to solve the mystery of the ‘whistling man’ who went out to kill those who call our radio station.

You know in slashers where you think "Oh boy, wonder what'll happen this time" and "don't open that door"? Imagine being in a slasher movie knowing all the tropes but being unable to avoid walking into every single one: it's like if you were playing through the movie Scream. Also: if you love horror movies, you'll have a blast taking detail of your surroundings.

A solid 7/10. Really love the 80s vibe and concept. many of the "puzzles" are really straight forward and arent very rewarding. the story is compelling but they didn't quite stick the ending for me. While saving the callers was fun and a unique gameplay mechanic, it really felt like the devs wanted you to quick save before every important interaction (and thats quite literally what i had to do). One wrong dialogue and the caller is done for. I understand it's supposed to be high stakes but it came off quite annoying and unfair at moments. However the twist was very fun. Despite the criticism, I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game and I'd recommend picking it up whenever it's on sale.

Great game. It's going to be a spooky tradition for me every October. If you love 80's horror you'll be right at home. My only critique is that it isn't longer. I hope there is a sequel of some kind for the 90's. There's just nothing else out there like this game that will scratch the itch. Given that there is no combat, the voice acting, ambiance, and music is what will really raises the tension.
