If you love dark art, you’re in the right place. Brimming with striking visions of Hell unlike anything you’ve seen before, Solium Infernum is an infernal feast for the eyes with multitudes of individual dark paintings to enjoy. Every item of the game is accompanied by mind-blasting artwork, a feat declaring Solium Infernum a winner of the 2022 Game Makers Sketchbook.

Originally inspired by Milton’s epic poem, Paradise Lost, League of Geeks’ (known for seminal digital board game Armello) sophomore title is a re-imagining and modernisation of Vic Davis’ critically acclaimed cult-classic of the same name, hailed as a masterpiece of strategy game design.

Once again, prepare to lose yourself within ‘the cold glory of a difficult decision’ as we resurrect Solium Infernum from the depths of Hell.

Note: The following quotes refer to the original Solium Infernum (2009) by Vic Davis.

“Solium Infernum is a political wargame set in hell… The game is now finished, and none of the friends survived. By which I mean, we all hate each other now.”
- Rock Paper Shotgun

“It’s a game about playing other people, in both senses of the word…. This is game design based on psychology as much as rules.”
- Quarter to Three

“More than any game I've played in years, Solium Infernum nails the sensation of staring at a screen and losing yourself in the cold glory of a difficult decision.”
- Game Developer (formerly Gamasutra)

“Solium Infernum kicked my knees out from under me ... this game took my past experience with strategy games and threw it, like a pro basketball player, into a bin eighty feet away.”
- Eurogamer

“One of the best games of the year.”
— Three Moves Ahead

The first one game in this category I ever played (turn based strategy). I was surprised how this game was holding me during 20 hours (I've finished 3 full companies). I got absolutly new experience and new emotions. I hope developers will create new the same amazing projects!

Solium Infernum is a uniquely dark and complex strategy game that stands out for its deep political intrigue, unforgiving gameplay, and immersive atmosphere. Set in the infernal depths of Hell, you take on the role of an archfiend vying for power against other Lords in a twisted game of strategy, diplomacy, and betrayal. Unlike many strategy titles that emphasize grand battles or empire building, Solium Infernum focuses intensely on the subtleties of negotiation, manipulation, and psychological warfare, offering a cerebral and rewarding experience for players who appreciate nuanced strategy. The core gameplay revolves around managing your resources, positioning your forces across the circles of Hell, and forging or breaking alliances to advance your agenda. What sets Solium Infernum apart is its emphasis on the diplomatic and subterfuge aspects. You communicate with rival archfiends through carefully crafted messages that can deceive, threaten, or cajole, making every interaction feel...

Grand strategy at it's best. If you're used to grand strategy and/or 4x strategy games that primarily concern themselves with conventional battles this might have a learning curve to it. Stick with it. You wont be disappointed. After getting used to the various fronts of battle, the back stabbing and all out chaos you'll be pleasantly surprised to find a deep strategy game worth exploring. Considering how much the game has a plethora of chaos as a main playing feature the community itself surrounding the game is very friendly. I've actually never came across a friendlier community online. Oh and the chaos is so on point with the subject matter of the game. Would you expect hell to by orderly? I'm so glad that I found this game. Solium Infernum really deserves more popularity.

One of my favourite strategy games. Better than the original, which our group played for several years. Slow gaming at its best. Can get quite intensive, when playing with "friends", even at two turns per week. (Can be played much faster too.) The AI is a bit predictable, but does the job of filling empty seats in multiplayer and has some nice scripts giving a bit of personality to the playstyles of different archdevils.

Great game, really one of a kind and scratches that Dungeon Keeper 2 itch that no other game really does. I´ve played Dungeons 3, War for the Overworld etc. but this is the s-h-i-e-t. The game offers great variety on playstyles with searching for manuscripts, plotting, rituals, collecting artifacts, warfare or more classy dueling between chosen heroic warriors called Praetors (a nod to ancient Rome). It has a lot of units and variety and titan units that show up from heaven to invade or titan units that you can buy yourself, but you need to pay upkeep, compared to the other units. This game is perfect for people who´ve had to put gaming aside for parenthood, careers or something but still want to get some game done with friends. You can play multiplayer sessions where the turn timer is 3 minutes to 7 days, and usually you need 2-10 min to do a turn... and the 10 min is just if you are overthinking it. Highly recommend!
