About This Game

Paper Trail is a top-down puzzle adventure about leaving home, set in a foldable, paper world. You play as Paige, a budding academic, leaving home for the first time to pursue her studies. On the journey, you learn to fold the world, merging two sides to solve puzzles, explore new areas and uncover long-lost secrets.

Fold the world, one page at a time

What feels simple at first, folding and joining paths together to explore and progress, quickly becomes devilishly tricky! Alter the fabric of your world, contorting, spinning, rotating, twisting around - as you try to untangle the puzzle of the Paper Trail.

Engaging puzzles, intriguing people

Solve puzzles that challenge your wits and bring you through the world of Paper Trail. Travelling through the folds will introduce Paige to a unique cast of characters, who tell their stories and enlighten Paige about the wider world.

Handcrafted beautiful environments

From deep dark caves that have been untouched for years to the tallest treetops buffeted by rain. Explore a variety of handcrafted environments as Paige makes her journey to University, taking in the sights and wonders as she goes.

An enchanting art style

Experience the art of Paper Trail which draws heavily from flat aesthetic styles, like printmaking and watercolour, blended together to create a uniquely styled game that compliments the paper theme.

A very pleasant puzzle game where you have to fold the pages to clear a path or get the story to progress. The achievements are doable and you can go back to levels to get things you missed. The story is nice but a little dark. The graphics and music are lovely. I got 100% in about 16 hours. Recommend on sale.

Delightful puzzle game. Playing through the normal rooms is a solid challenge in and of itself, but there's also the hidden origamis to find for an extra challenge. Going for those is what made me really feel like I "got" the game, understanding the folds and patterns and what to look for, but I think just playing through normally would also be fun!

Great games with a lot of intelligent puzzles with fun mechanics that keep you guessing. 5.5 hours in I'd say it is one of the games I'll remember for a long while, definitely worth a buy.

My family has enjoyed this game very much. We play it together as a group (mixed age, elementary school to adult) and it's a peaceful family activity. The main trouble has been that one family member has a lot of experience with origami and so he solves the puzzles significantly faster than the rest of us!

Ever since I was a child I've been a fan of origami. The art of being able to make art by folding paper in different and imaginative ways has been a marvel to witness, distracting me from other matters in elementary school. As the years went by such fondness has led to appreciation whenever it's used properly in a medium. This is one of those cases. Flipping through my experience with this game I can sum it up by saying that it’s among the most creative ways to implement it in the sokoban genre. The jist comes from being able to fold the levels in such ways that you can create paths you otherwise couldn't, taking their reverse side to your advantage. As such, each area incentivizes you to see both sides and think through your movements based on positioning and obstacles to sort in between. With such a technique the game makes sure to not only challenge you to pay attention to the background but also hide some secrets here and there, including origami and other bits On another n...

A nice relaxing puzzle game. Not hard at all once you grasp some features of the puzzle elements, but reasonably challenging after a long workday. Very beautifully drawn and written, cool soundtrack, cool mechanics. The full price was slightly under 10€ and for that kind of money it's a blast!
