About This Game

Introducing AI Roguelite, the world's first text-based RPG where every location, NPC, enemy, item, crafting recipe, and game mechanic is 100% determined by artificial intelligence.

If you've ever played other AI "games" such as AI Dungeon and were frustrated by how they didn't feel like a game, then AI Roguelite might be the perfect game for you.

  • AI-generated entities: What weapons might you find in an underwater city? Which enemies might you find? Where else can you go from there? All these questions are answered by an LLM, so you can explore a truly infinite world.

  • AI-generated crafting recipes: What item could you make if combining a wooden stick with a rock? What about a computer chip with a zombie brain? The AI decides which item should be produced, based on the names of the ingredients.

  • AI-generated combat: What happens when you try to attack a "terminator robot" with a "raw salmon"? Instead of traditional item stats, the success/failure of an attack depends heavily on its name and description, the AI-determined plausibility of your proposed action, and a dice roll check on your attributes and skills. The AI then generates a plausible story for what happens when you use it against the enemy. Finally, the AI is fed its own story, from which it tries to figure out whether the enemy was killed, injured, or unharmed.

  • AI-generated illustrations: Every entity gets an AI-generated image using either your GPU or the cloud.

Various options for text and image gen models: Choose from free cloud (works out of the box), paid cloud, custom via API (works with OpenRouter, LMStudio, etc.), and more.

Notice: This game features plausibility and dice roll checks based on your stats, skills, and story context. Actions may be blocked or fail if checks aren't met; this is intentional and not caused by AI censorship. You can bypass these mechanics at any time via options or console commands.

Notice: An optional monthly subscription is available via an in-game link, which enhances the gameplay experience by using more expensive LLMs and image generation services. This is entirely optional and does not impede the default free service in any way. The game works well out of the box with default settings and no additional cost to the player. Ensuring it continues to do so remains the highest priority.

YOUR GAME DOESN'T HAVE TO LOOK AS BAD AS THE SCREENSHOTS DO! It officially supports API keys for Openrouter, OpenAI, NovelAI, etc. so you can use it with whatever model you prefer/afford. This reminds me of what AI Dungeon was at its peak in Summer 2020 but with more features and customization, and cheaper too.

Playing this game is like reading a book. There is not much action, just AI pictures and AI created texts. You just read and experience the game in your head. If you dont like alot of reading this is probably nothing for you. (game has TTS but it sometimes skips texts for me) The game lets you create your own world, character and story. You can complete quests and build your character how u want. What you can do if you play this game: -be a stealth archer in the world of skyrim that sneaks around and shoots arrows -be a knight in shiny armor and big sword that slays through hords of enemies -play as a sock sniffing dwarf that creeps around cities (not that i tried that) What you cant do if you play this game: -get a girlfriend and be succesful in real life I hope you like this review thank you bye

This is as close to my dream game as I've ever gotten. I can generate any world I want, including existing fictional universes, like the SCP Foundation (which was executed BRILLIANTLY), and the Free Cloud model is MORE than good enough. You can get all kinds of interesting items, and then craft any three together, and the AI figures out what you get-I have spent hours on that alone. If you have to spend money to craft, just switch the game difficulty to Adventure while crafting, but never use Adventure difficulty outside crafting because it makes the game too easy. Also, be ready to sorta cheat when the AI messes up and doesn't do what it says it should-use the ~ key to bring up the console. And make sure to explore the Options in the main menu really thoroughly and give yourself as much control as possible, as long as you commit to having the integrity to only use your cheat powers to fix the AI's mistakes. Plus, the developer is really good about responding to bug reports. I'm reall...

played on and off for a while, had very good support from the dev once stuff hasn't been working, 174hrs in i can say that this is the only actual game that uses AI correctly at the time i am writing this review, love the stuff you doing btw max, every update makes the game a lot more in depth and a lot more customizable to people's needs. For the actual review: Yes its AI (LLM), yes you have to be clear about your intentions with the scenario creation, i usually auto-gen with like maybe 60-70 words and reroll until its a setting i can work with, then edit as applicable, the non-modded presets are a good start though, if you wanna change something before starting your journey, feel free to change it, experiment and learn would be my final advice. IMO 10/10 usage of LLMs for an entertaining purpose, I even got some of my Anti-AI friends to try this out and they genuinely liked it

This is the best AI role-playing app I've every used. I've used SillyTavern, JAI, Narratrix, Friends & Fables, Whisper from the Stars, AI Dungeon, even used Novelcrafter as an RP app. Out of all of them, this game is the best. The main differences are that, while it isn't as feature complete (yet) as Friends & Fables, it allows you to use your own AI; and, it's a one time fee. Friends & Fables needs to up it's game, cause this app is already better and cheaper. It lets you use Forge or ComfyUI as an API to generate images. It has TTS by default (given it uses one of the worst versions of TTS). Anyways, try it yourself. It's pretty amazing, just remember though. Just because it's the best, doesn't mean it's perfect. Just like any other AI driven RP App, it needs a lot of guidance and retries. It can also be quite time consuming when you first start as you get use to it. But that's the same for all these Apps, AI is just bad at RP in general, so you NEED to constantly guide it. I don't...

One of the best AI experiences I've seen. It's still needs work but that's what early access is for. The developer is super responsive and professional and you can really have a ball if you're creative.

This game is so close to something great. What Max Loh has done with the skill, meter, image generation, plausibility and lore systems? Haven't seem them done nearly as well in any other AI service. It has everything that could make a storyteller with infinite potential. But the issue with the game lies in how it's structured. You have all these preset rooms and locations that have very specific NPCs, enemies and other locations just there, waiting for you to interact with them. It feels very artificial and arbitrarily placed. Trying to progress a consistent story with this system is incredibly challenging, because quest progress is inconsistent and difficult to control. Moving between places feels very inconsequential, there's no real sense of distance or effort involved. The combat system is unpredictable and the very gamey nature of it all makes it hard to make a serious attempt at a story. What this game really needs is to shed all of that. Keep the skills, lorebooks and maybe th...

Combined with my fine tuned Novel AI positive and negative prompts, this turned into one of the best Choose Your Own Adventure games ever created. Example from my first save: I was in a forest, druid dude needed a parasite attached to the forest guardian killed. After awhile, I did so. The Forest thanks me by sending way-too-much magic into my body. I try to expel the excess mana from my body, without letting my control of it waiver. My Mana Control levels up and the AI describes the mana wanting to be part of me, but understanding that it would harm me. Instead, it turns itself into Legendary Tier Living Armor I can equip that attacks and defends independent of me during combat. Later, as an experiment, I try to channel mana into the Living Armor. I gain a spell that temporarily enhances the stats of this specific equipment. LitRPG/Progrression fantasy enjoyers will love this.

Made a joke test world based on the Norf FC meme and the United Kingdom Brexit from the EU. 60 hours later my fat bazza has chinned his way to the gates of the palace and made a drunken pass at Queen Elizabeth, whilst becoming best mates with Gordon Ramsay after a furious fist/knife fight with him on the top of his restaurant.

Its a good game the dev will personally work with you if you do encounter game breaking bugs, I use the sapphire subscription so im used to the better AI version of this game. And honestly yeah its a good game. The AI does what it needs to can be a little annoying at times when its trying to create a plot point out of me picking up a rusty dagger from a skeleton. Other than that the game really isn't all that bad and i would recommend you to try it out when given the chance
