This game is the Dark Souls of 3D Platformers
And I mean that literally, from the way the combat works to the difficulty and several mechanics being very similar to what you'll find in various FromSoft titles. But this game has a sea of original ideas of its own to set itself apart from others in the genre. For one thing, there's a bit more of a focus on platforming in this game compared to other Souls games. You can swim in mid-air for a short time kind of like Yoshi's flutter jump, and thanks to the drop shadows that always appear right below you, I rarely had issues lining up my jumps properly. The grappling hook you get very early on also unlocks more platforming opportunities and is used very effectively with the level design. It all works well and is very enjoyable, with some surprisingly tough platforming challenges towards the end. This is also one of the very few 3D platformers to actually have good combat. Unlike many other games in the genre where you can jus...

Funny and seemingly innocent, but the world is actually pretty dark once you start getting into the game. It's challenging, but rewarding; expect a lot of glitches and graphical issues though. Overall, I like the contrast between the vibrant atmosphere and the darker story, it makes not as depressing as other Souls-like games. I would recommend a controller to get the full Souls-like experience.
The controls for both movement and combat feel very float-y. Not sure what else I could have expected honestly. The controls with the seeming lack of an input buffer make the game feel very frustrating. Especially when combined with the confusingly abundant ending lag for just about everything. This is as much a problem in exploring as everything else. That being said, I have very little else to criticize. The setting, theme, and art style are all very impressive. It is a fun game concept, it just isn't for me. The frustrating controls get in the way of everything else.
Okay so I watched gameplay of this game before buying and it reeled me in with its funny interactions and thrilling combat. One of the hardest soulslike I've played (this doesn't say much) I love this game.
This game is the goat. A bit hard but if you like to enjoy the story trust me play this game it so goooooooooooooooooooooooood
A true soulslike (they even make numerous tongue-in-cheek references to FromSoft games in the game itself, including calling the large hub area the Sands Between hurf hurf) with a cheery exterior... until it's not. The systems have been simplified - I believe to Crab's credit - and combat is fun and punchy and punishes mistakes but not to the point where you'll be trying bosses more than a few times each. The surprising thing was how much the game makes you invested in these characters and the world. Also, the game hits on a lot of themes that I assumed would be punching above its weight, including capitalist despotism, humanism, Effective Altruism, fiat currency, and the illusion of neutrality. All while everybody is following the treasure map on the back of a cereal box.
verry fun very colorful then deppresion hits very nice storytelling.im swaring at the game just like a real soulslike and fune cute crab is cute.currently on my second playthrought. a bit short but that is forgivven for the price aswell as its an indi studio wich i love
This game is a mess of balance that is only fair through the added accessibility settings. While the first half of the game is easy, you are eventually tossed into the deep end (both literally and figuratively) and are forced to contest against the giant railgun crabs. These enemies have more health than some bosses, can and will one-shot you, and can see you from any point on the map, even if they are not visible to the player. And if you die to them once, you will never be able to get your souls back, due to the enemies being so big they quite literally body-block it. I would like to enjoy it, but when a soulslike makes it so you can't progress through the (very linear) story without cheating, then I would simply rather not play. Maybe this is a skill issue. Hell if I know, or care.
When you look at the artwork and screenshots, when you read the game’s description, you’d hardly think that this is one of the most beautiful and fascinating games of recent years. A game you play and never regret a single minute spent on it.
Great game! Would recommend it to anyone who is interested in the dark souls games but not the dark grim setting.
