Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/olfXn3LSCsA Is Timberman VR worth .79 cents? Yeah, I think so. It's a pretty good deal at that price. It's a nice little mini-game for VR. It can get quite hectic and you do get a good work. While this is ostensibly a tree chopping mini-game, it really is closer to a music action rhythm game. You do swing your axe to the beat of the music to get bonus points. You can swing your axe on the tree or use the blunt side to knock things out (either from the side for 2 sided axes or on the back for one-sided axes). You swing your offhand machete to knock down the branches, although you can also use your axe, but you have to be accurate and hit it right on or you'll whiff, that's why the machete is better for branches. You can also double swing on armor plated parts of the tree. When you swing your axe on the tree, you have to swing on the direction indicated, to the beat of the music for bonus...

I love the game play! I was concerned it might not be fast enough, but it is! The user interface is a bit quirky so I give it a meh. Overall love it! I think its well worth the asking price.

Not impressed, this game has potential but with the controls not being very user friendly and ax not swinging the way you are swinging it makes for a very unattractive game. The user interface is very odd and not very user friendly. On a side note you can sit and try and swing. In order for my character to even be remotely at the right height I had to say I was sitting down .

its hard to get in the groove when sometimes things are on the branch just outside your field of view and you hear the sound that tells you that you messed up. controls feel weird because the tools have their own physics and if your cut isnt deep enough it just says try again. at the beginning you have an axe in one hand and a machete in the other and you cant cut the logs with both tools. I hope there might be something where you an dual wield axes but until I see an update making the experience better I'm gonna refund.

It is always important to give a description of physical fitness/demand when reviewing a VR game. I am a very overweight 30-something man, but otherwise have no serious illnesses. This game is sufficiently physically demanding that I cannot do much else for some time if I play this. This game is very physically intense. I absolutely do not recommend this for anyone who is not prepared for a serious workout. This game has options to play in a chair. I recommend strongly against that. You should be standing while playing this. As the description says, Timberman VR is a game that is very easy to learn, but extremely difficult to master. You play as the titular Timberman on his quest to take vengeance against a nearby forest. You line your axe up and chop in the direction of the arrow. If you cut in the wrong direction, the tree curses you to death. Sometimes you have to cut branches - either with your axe or the machete in your off-hand - before you can cut the tree. Sometimes there are...

Seems to have a lot of polish for such a cheap game. I say it is worth it on sale for sure and if you think the gameplay looks enticing, $8 isn't hard to manage for full price.

Its a simple concept but it has enough progression, achievements, and leaderboards to keep you entertained. Plus it can be a good workout. Worth the asking price.

The gameplay is fantastic! I initially worried it might not be fast-paced enough, but it exceeded my expectations. The user interface has some quirks, which I find somewhat off-putting. Overall, I really enjoy it and believe it offers great value for the price. The game presents a straightforward concept that gradually increases in difficulty. While it's easy to pick up, mastering it poses a significant challenge, making for a rewarding experience. TimberMan VR is an incredibly addictive retro arcade game that transitions into 3D and beyond. Its charm stems from the absence of a storyline, placing the focus on player skill. This VR experience is truly immersive and serves as an excellent workout. The graphics are impressive, and the act of cutting wood is quite satisfying. I highly recommend this game to anyone seeking an enjoyable and thrilling VR arcade experience.
