Found this game randomly on YouTube, played the demo and then bought it. Lets make no mistakes about it. This is a remake of the original Ninja Gaiden for the NES. Character names are changed, but that's what this is. I grew up playing the original so seeing this hit me too hard in the nostalgic feels for me to pass up. The game is good I must say. Not perfect, but nothing that I think would keep me from enjoying the game. I heard this was developed by a single person. If that's true, this is quite an impressive effort and I'm reviewing the game based on that information. I will update this review if I need to. Pros Graphics are actually really good. Music is all remixes from the original game. All good. (Release the soundtrack please.) Controls are responsive (See Cons for a big issue though) and I like the addition of the double jump/glide mechanic. There's also a kick and a downward air slash that's not in the original game. Neutral Difficulty - Feel like the difficulty ramps up...

Awesome game! Highly recommended for old Ninja Gaiden fans. It has a lot of Bionic Commando Rearmed feel on it Game requires quite much from the computer though. It would be awesome to see another NES classic "Werewolf: The Last Warrior" to have this kind of rebirth some day ;)
he game is incredible, the controls respond very well and it brings back that nostalgia of the NES game That combination of mortal kombat style fatalities and also with the essence of the dragons lair game, makes it feel like something fresh. It has a lot of challenge, fortunately it has 3 levels of difficulty because the game is brutal in the most difficult mode. The gameplay is very addictive, with magic like fire or shurikens you really are a ninja trying to get to the next stage. For those players looking for something classic but new, this title covers that and more. It is a platformer game that takes the essence of the classic games of the 80s. You have to save every time you pass the stage to keep the progress in the next game.
The game has a lot of bugs. It's not recommended to play on the steam deck. While playing the first level, it crashes for no reason to avail. The suggestion I would make, take your time with this game and polish it. This should have never been released in this fashion. The developer should have tested the game out before releasing. It would have been a so much better. I really want to like it!
Ninja Bodoken is a unofficial updated version of the NES hit "Ninja Gaiden". The game has nice graphics and enjoyable (Even though stolen) soundtrack of remixes of the original NES game. However that's the only positives I can give. The biggest problem I have personally is controls. No Dpad support...Why? 2D games are best played with D-pads and it irritates me to no end when a devver just forces analog on a 2D playing feild, to me it's similar as using touch screen "buttons" on a mobile game....just doesn't work for precise control. My other gripe is the lag in your attack, you will always get hit by dogs, panther and all the small animals that run in the game. If you jump you maybe able to avoid them. My final gripe is personal. The check points seem screen based like the original, but doesn't help that the playing field is so huge and have to go through so much just to reach a check point. The original got right what this "remake" gets wrong. So.. in short. it's Ok, really it is,espe...
Plays like the classic Ninja Gladien game that insipred this game with updated graphics. Little glitched here and there but very enjoyable to play.
Its Gaiden! Love it! Thank you devs!
I love this game! reminds me of the old school Ninja Gaiden game on the nes but with far better graphics. i am playing this on the steam deck and it plays great. For the guy who stated that he wished that he could play the game with the D pad well you can. you just got to edit the control config on your steam deck. you need to assign the D pad the joystick config and it will let you play the game with the D pad.
The game has some really cool graphics and soundtrack! I do, however have some critiques. It's a bit too dark and the color is a bit saturated, which makes it hard to see where I'm going/landing. D-pad support would be really nice and also a confirmation upon selecting an option in the menus, like a message or a sound.
isvery challeging game and fun to play
