At first I bought it without knowing what I would get. An story driven game made in rpg maker is always a risk because what makes them good is the story. In this case I have to say it was beyond all my expectations. I have only got one ending but I'm planning in getting every single one of them. The characters are all charismatic, there wasn't one who I didn't like and the worldbuilding is otherworldly. It was worth it.

About This Game
The world is on the verge of being consumed by the Fog, an ever-growing mist that corrupts and destroys all life within it. Unable to reach the source, humanity has no way to stop the Fog's growth. The destruction of the world is inevitable; humanity is at the end of its time.
In Asala, one of the few remaining settlements outside the Fog, two friends are on the verge of completing their training to become knights sworn to help weather the coming disaster: the cynical Aeyr Wilder and the kindhearted Mia Alacruz. However, catastrophic events soon destroy the very foundations of their lives, and they are forced to make the choice between their precious friendship and following the path they each believe is right. Their faith in their beliefs, and in each other, will be pushed to the limit as they decide what to save and what to sacrifice as the world collapses around them.
"There is no stopping the coming apocalypse. The only question remaining is: can humanity endure it?"
Prayer of the Faithless is a unique blend of traditional RPG and classic survival-horror gameplay. In addition to fighting enemies to level up, you must also scavenge the field to find healing supplies, as well as new gear that comes with their own skills and traits to further customize your party. Battles reward smart tactics and aggressive offense by tying stamina pools to both skill usage and damage reduction. Enemies are challenging, but an understanding of the options each character has available to them will take you farther than grinding levels will.
Each ally's personality traits affect their combat prowess and abilities. As the story goes on and the stakes are raised, these traits will develop (and degrade!) along with the character's mental state. You will get to truly understand how each character thinks and feels through conversations and battle performance, and see how the state of the world affects their morale and beliefs.
Features:
- An apocalyptic story with 4 different endings
- Two main characters, each with their own parties and playstyles
- A unique turned-based battle system that integrates elements of classic survival-horror gameplay
- 10+ hours of gameplay
- More skills, more tools: New skills acquired through leveling up and finding weapons add more options to your arsenal, rather than simply stronger versions of old skills
Warning:: Due to the nature of its setting, this game contains depictions of depression and suicide, as well as infrequent depictions of violence and gore.

Really don't want to be that guy who'd be dunking on an indie game. Making a game from start to finish is a huge accomplishment on its own - and I mean an actual game, with its own story, thought and effort put into its gameplay and not a shameless asset flip. Nonetheless, since this game is not free, I feel like I need to leave a warning for others who'd be tempted by the promise of a well-told gripping story - it won't be found here. Not many games have burned through my good will so quickly in recent memory. In 40 minutes of playing I was presented with exposition dumps so blatant I didn't think that's something people still don't know better not to do. Then the main character, who lives in a fantasy setting with paladins and castles talking like a stereotype of skate park punk - where the hell would he know what a fanclub is? This isn't isekai, it's supposed to be a setting where the behavior and mannerisms of the characters stem from the history and culture of the world. It doesn...
Well… picking up random games from my wishlist paid off. I expected this to be Anonymous Agony levels of self-masturbatory teen power fantasy… But it’s not – sure, the protagonist is an ass-hole, but he gets some consequences from it. He’s also not all that powerful, despite what the dream sequence might have suggested to you. He’s a kid with bad upbringing living in a world currently going through an apocalypse. Speaking of the apocalypse, the story is dark – humanity barely ‘survives’ in a land covered by demonic fog. The fog kills you if you go too deep into it and there are also monsters living in it. There’s some fancy torches burning with a blue fire and protect humans but they aren’t exactly mobile… also some prophecy says that a revenant will destroy the world. Add to that knights being chosen in a fight to the death and it gets pretty grimdark. You don’t just control the edgy edgelord Aeyr though – you get many party members from different walks of ...
Truncated for character limits. Full review at Dragon Quill. Comments are enabled there. The most obvious thing about this game is that it is incredibly, incredibly grimdark. The world is in the middle of a slow-motion apocalypse, but there is no Chosen One around to save it, so everyone is resigned to futilely pushing back the encroaching doom until humanity is finally snuffed out. Now, I say grimdark instead of dark because, well, the existential horror of the setting doesn't seem to actually weigh on anyone that much. The cadets training to be the last bastion of defense against humanity's inevitable destruction still make time for petty high school cliques and bullying, and despite their leader being borderline fascist the protagonist is able to get away with petty pranks and constant, flagrant disrespect for authority -- until suddenly he can't and he's going to get EXECUTED for backtalking the...
A dark fantasy RPG with a gripping plot and tight combat that will keep you on your toes for the whole journey. It's a game in which the gameplay is as truly gripping as the plot, in which you'll carefully plot every move, manage and ration your resources wisely, and take every step carefully to avoid the certain doom that hangs over the cast. Think of Darkest Dungeon but with a traditional JRPG structure. Highly recommended if you love challenging and well-tuned RPGs! NOTE: I played and completed a non-Steam version of the game.
As someone with no particular preference for pixel graphics I found this game very good. Incredible storyline with solid characters and worldbuilding. The setting is bleak but the humanity of the characters really still show.
This game is incredible. If you're looking for a game with great story, gameplay and a story that really drags you in, this is it. I enjoyed every moment of it. A+++
A hard, deep, rewarding game. Prayer of the Faithless is very worth checking out if you enjoy a good challenge and intriguing world/characters... if you are brave enough. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through and I legit felt a sense of rush once the combat clicked and I started tearing down waves of enemies. The game is very hard and proud of it. Don't worry, it's not cheap. Once you learn the mechanics, you can find various ways to annihilate your foes. Or fall to them. The combat is very deep, with mechanics built around the character's personalities. Much kudos to Red Nova.
Praying for More Supplies

Story
As you can imagine from the game's title, the story is pretty bleak, since humanity is inevitably going to die to the Miasma/Fog. The constant despair has done a number on the overall mental health of human society, making otherwise good people more desperate to uphold social order. This can be seen with Mia, who wants to save humanity, but is unable to maintain order among a panicked population, causing her to resort to desperate methods to save as many people as she can. On the other hand, Aeyr rejects utilitarianism because of how poorly he was treated by society, but this also means he has little regard for anyone outside his circle of friends. For most of the game, the two are friends who are trying to reunite with each other, but the player can see that their opposing ideals will eventually make them come to blows. The game has four endings and I got the one that requires the two leads to stay in-character, which requires more ...
i like this game a lot it has one of the more unique combat systems a rpg maker game has to offer if there was an auto battle function in this game it would never be worth it combat requires your attention and will cost you badly if you dont little when you do but like i said there still is a cost stay on your toes the combat and player/enemy design is the big check marks for me the plot is good music is there world is doomed so thats cool and the end determination is clever but not a 'lemme reload and pick ending B real quick' type of thing you almost have to restart entirely sorry
