About This Game

ShibaInu is a virtual reality (VR) Katana simulator. With enhanced physics and cutting mechanics you will be able to put your swordsman skills to the test with one of the most famous and deadliest weapons in history. This game mainly focuses on proper Katana handling, physics interactions and cutting mechanics, where speed, acceleration, rotation rate, weight, travel distance, and edge orientation are taken into account to achieve the most realistic experience.

You will be able to improve your skills in the Japanese art of Tameshigiri which was known as the practice for testing the quality of Japanese swords, but now as a martial art which tests the skill of the wielder. Precise and controlled cuts are performed on Tatamis (traditional Japanese floor mat) rolled into a cylindrical shape.

You will be able to play in 2 different game modes:

  • Zen mode: Mode for practice or just simply a relaxing and satisfying cutting session. (WIP)
  • Waves mode: A fixed number of tatamis and targets will spawn in waves, with different cut patterns. Hit the targets as fast as possible to earn points before you run out of time.

Features:

  • 10 different waves challenges for map.
  • Online local and global leaderboard.

Totally awesome. I'm a nerd living the dream in Japan. I actually train in Iaido and Battodo and... the reason I tell myself I didn't go to the dojo tonight was because it was raining... or this, who knows? lol The details on the swords is freaking great. The hamon, hada, blade geometry such as with the kissaki, the bohi in the wakizashi with the shinogi zukuri geometry... I love it all. Literally, my only thing close to a gripe is the weave in the tsukamaki-ito not being realistic but... hell, they got the henari maki pattern right! I see so many swords in real life, in my own hands that aren't wrapped correctly. The tsukamaki lining up with the kashira and fuchi correctly is just great. I'm in love with the details. The mechanics and all are so satisfying I just hope for more environment details to interact with. Like, when I first noticed the shiba statue... I just wanted to pet the puppy lol Also, saw another review mention no sound over Virtual Desktop. I honestly just thought ...

I have tried this game for 20 minutes, so far it is a really enjoyable game, and to me quite calming despite the constant physical movement, for an Early Access title i can so far notice almost no bugs or glitches within the game, although holding something in your left hand will be a bit janky compared to the right hand, but this might just be because i am Right handed, i really do recommend this game for anyone who wishes to try it out.

Still needs a lot of work for tracking the sword swing and movement. So far when handling even 1 sword 2 handed it does not cut when needed or accurately. Yes I have experience in swordsmanship and no this game is far from real. I understand the plot. Maybe once more things are added. Maybe some combat against people would make me come back. Till then please work on your cutting ability in this game. For an early its ok and entertaining for about 4 minutes.

Perfect game for any Katana enthusiast like me. It's extremely satisfying to slash those tameshigiri into pieces. The game is still in early access so some issues are to be expected, but it's totally playable and worth the money.

It's fun, however there is no left-handed mode which is annoying.

I like this game a lot, but after playing for a while two things i noticed are one the hit registration is a little off, what I mean is that when i was the same strength on a swing the katana will only cut about 1/3 of the time. The other thing is the arm length is off, for taller people (me, I'm 6'2) the arm doesnt extend far enough to match the length of my arm which could be causing the hit registration problem. edit, this isn't me hating on the game but more of a helpful review

Immersive challenging play the physics of cutting make it challenging and adds to the immersive realism. Its difficult to get orientated to the optimum cutting techniques as you move to different cut angles and going from the companion sword to the Katana. But its there I just have to dial it in and be able to repeat it reliably. It is a great basis for a variety of combat game play scenarios
