Colonies x Grand Strategy

Fusing the intuitive management of Colony-Build games with the clear competitive stakes and vast scale of Grand Strategy.
Dive into diverse breakthrough tactics:
Early Rush • Cultural Expansion • Trade/Slavery • Migration • Enforce other tribes to tribute or become your vassal.
Combine these approaches, restarting to conquer new paths after each victory.

‌Ancient Nations Competition‌
We added simple grand strategy gameplay to colony-building mechanics.
You will lead a branch of ‌Ancient Chinese, starting by building a small tribe: crafting tools, constructing houses, hunting, farming, and raising livestock.
Then face 5 ethnic groups in Asia: ‌Rongdi, Baiyue, Ancient Chinese States, Aryans, Assyrians‌.
From the eastern Yellow River basin to Mesopotamia – rule or be ruled.

‌Tech Tree & Culture Tree‌
You can develop culture to make other tribes submit, pay tribute, and provide ‌vassal troops + supplies‌.
Or gain advanced tools and bronze through technological advantage for trade.
Or prioritize reproduction through ‌fertility worship‌.
Or embrace violence, train professional soldiers, and plunder extensively.

‌Manage Slaves‌
Force lifelong labor, OR adopt them into your tribe to bear children.
Execute slaves to suppress rebellions, OR sell them directly.

‌Leaders & Grouping‌
Use Leaders to manage groups, reducing repetitive actions.
Set group schedules: labor, create culture, develop tech, or train.
Battlefield controls function like traditional RTS unit groups.
Future update: Group leaders will become a higher social class.

‌Knowledge Inheritance‌
Tribesmen gain knowledge through labor – lost when they die.
Must carve knowledge onto stone monuments to preserve it.
These monuments become learning tools for future generations.

- Devs make a colony management simulator. People like it, and wait for for updates - Devs feel threatened by Rimworld, a game which has a completely different playerbase to this one (Survival in the space age X Primitive Society, not the same game at all) - Devs change completely the scope of the game, making the ones who bought the game expecting a cozy management sim sad. - Devs answer to all negative comments about the change aggresively. What a shitshow.
Devs have clearly stated that their aim is to create a knock-off of Rim World. So, I suggest you save your money and just buy Rim World.
I started playing this today, probably again, and that bouncing yellow arrow can be stuck up your ass. It is enough to have the yellow arrow. For ADHD people, it is like you are running around screaming constantly. So, stick that shit where the sun does not shine.

i like the game but it has some problems that i see. 1. the fact you can only play as Chinese and not any other race, in my opinion is boring i feel like the game should allow other races to be playable. 2. religion it would nice to customize the religion and culture your group starts with, like changing the name of the gods they believe in or what do they value, or if they do sacrifices or not. those thing could make it a bit more interesting. 3. being able to choose what someone is going to wear or what tool they are going to use, cause i make different classes when i play games like this and usually do it based with the clothes they wear rather then title or names, it makes it easier to do the class system. 4. custom starts where the player can choose what is given, how many people, and the Harvestable resources at the start of each game. 5. and finally add workshop.

This is what I wish city builder games would be more like. You can take control of citizens but otherwise they are largely self automated.

The game is a lot of fun and I did enjoy myself when playing it. From watching children growing up through the stages of life, to establishing big settlements. I also enjoyed the combat. The game makes it pretty easy to grab your villagers and establish a defensive line on the walls. The research in this game, I think could be a bit better, or if your combat oriented, allow for me to steal weapons and study upon them to further my tribe. Anipals are such a huge help. If you get a handful of mammoths, you can easily roll through AI as they are extremely powerful and don't require much food. I did feel that cooking in this game could be better/ and or reworked. Like why create better food, when it requires so much food to make. If I made a basic food dish, it would turn 8 meat into 10 food dish's in a short time. So there was no reason not to cook basic food dishes. On the other hand, you could make exotic food dishes for better stats to your people, however it requires 30 meats and I fe...

I picked up the game close to the EA release. Tried it and saw great promise with where they were taking it. Decided to wait for a few updates before going back. Sad to see they changed paths completely from where the game started. Could it turn out to be good, sure. Could they change trajectory again, most likely. I'd wait on this and see what the end result is. Otherwise you may be going into an EA game that may change again based on the devs whims.

I like what this game is trying to do, but unfortunately, there are just too many issues that make the game anything but fun and a chore to play. The AI has an insane advantage over you in every aspect, and while it is surmountable, it is still tedious and requires you to turtle. I think we start with too few tribe members, and they work far too slowly. Every aspect of gathering resources is beyond slow and always inefficient. Researching technology, culture, and cohesion is monstrously slow and requires you to take workers away from the already inefficient gathering. You can mitigate this by micromanaging groups, but again, this adds nothing to the game but tedium. The UI is okay, if not basic, and lacks useful information and tooltips. Combat is straight-up boring, and the enemy always McDonald's you with far more units than they don't care about losing because those warriors don't count towards their actual population. Gaining more tribe members is nonexistent, save for slaves, but ...

This game is too unfinished for me to enjoy. Some cool mechanics kept me interested, but in its current state, I was way too bored and feel like my time was wasted. I bought the game when it first came out, and I think they took it in a good direction, though I think the interactions with other tribes needs a lot more refining. Controlling troops in combat is very rough and breaks the game on its own. It is difficult to select the correct units and split them up/send them where you want or give them the correct stay/move orders. Very rough system. It makes large fights extremely tedious. Assigning anipals is not refined and very inconvenient. A few other UI assigning tasks were annoying, such as identifying who should be put in what leader group, since many names were the same or cut short. The game feels like it has major balance issues to counter certain powerful tactics, but I found other ridiculous exploits
(Gate trolling invaders. They go to whatever gate is nea...

Quite good. Especially the culture system and the interactions with other tribes are very interesting. We can only hope that the developers continue deepening and expanding the game further.
