I like the game, but it does not allow me to play it while offline. I will repeat it because it is important: this single player game does not start while my computer is offline from the internet.

TL:DR It's like Pokemon, but good. I had around three feet of hair and had some aspirations to dye it blue and dress up as the MC of this game, but boy that much hair is a pain to maintain, and I hadn't even played this game, so I cut it and somehow a month later started this game's pseudo-prequel, Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne. I was immediately interested in how the party members were just demons you convinced to join you, not human characters with a story of their own. I'd describe it like Pokemon where you can have three out at once, plus your main character, and to get new ones you can either convince them to join you in the middle of combat (much like Persona 5), or fuse the demons you already have together to make new ones (much like every Atlus game). But...as time went on, while I enjoyed the combat, I'd been beaten down by the constant slog of random encounters combined with dungeons that were designed to waste your time to make you do MORE random encounters, especially si...

Peak concept, you are twink that turns into femboy and gets godlike powers. Fair warning, this game is like Dark Souls but turn-based. Graphic design also slap big time.

Many, MANY improvements from base SMT V which makes the whole experience among the most enjoyable in the whole series. Gameplay is stellar even if I do still slightly prefer IV/IV:A. Story is still pretty average; some highlights but it's very up-and-down and many, if not the majority of plot points feel underdeveloped and lack any kind of emotional draw as a result. New story (Canon of Vengeance) and other extra content is a bit overhyped imo (Still good though), it's sort of an inverse of SMT V, where the base game started out really dull and only started to become interesting in the final stretch of the story; here the new Canon of Vengeance starts out REALLY strong by taking advantage of your preconceived notions of where the story might go based on the Canon of Creation/Base SMT V and twisting them in ways you don't see coming - but then the story stalls and reaches the final act rather weakly when compared to base SMT V; the final open area is almost exactly the same story-wise ...

Can't recommend this game, it's just tedious to play. It is designed in a way that makes you walk around this massive area with the same post-apocaliptic scenery over and over again. The story is terribly slow and boring and I can't force myself to like it, skipping half of the conversations beacuse I don't care absolutely nothing what they're saying. The combat is good imo but nobody tells that you can't level up properly your demons because the enemies gives very little exp and you need tons of it, which means that you need hours of grinding just to level up twice. And the worse part and what make me drop it is that this game doesn't have autosave. It happened more than 3 times that I was fighting a random enemy that wiped my entire team with one spell and then reallized that I didn't save every 2 minutes, losing hours of gameplay. That ruined my mood and made me feel exhausted to keep playing this game.

Loved it. Felt like a kid again. An absolute breath of fresh air - discovering a new, totally engrossing JRPG, like the ones you remember from your childhood. I played Persona 5 a few years ago, which I liked, but discovering the SMT franchise - was on a whole different level. Collecting creatures (like Pokemon) to fight beside you, fusing them together (even randomly) to create stronger creatures/demons, party building, a huge catalogue of characters and a genuinely challenging playthrough that feels rewarding (but not impossible). It's the perfect recipe for a lot of fun, and a throwback to a time where games 'felt' substantial, innovative and painstakingly crafted. 10/10
