About the Game

Roman Triumph is a survival city-builder / colony-sim set in Roman times where you must lead your people, build a city from the ground up and fortify it with walls, ballistae, archer towers and other Roman defenses to survive against the hordes of Barbarians, ferocious Hydra, Minotaur, Cerberus, and other mythological beasts.

In order for your city to thrive, you must keep your citizens fed, safe, healthy, and happy. Strategically designing your city in this randomly generated world will improve your empire's chances of attracting new citizens, increase your resource and food production efficiency, please your gods, and maximize safety during attacks.

Throughout the years your settlement will get attacked by increasingly dangerous Barbarian armies from the North as they attempt to invade and pillage your land. Even worse, as you grow you will disturb the habitats of mythological beasts such as the Hydra, Minotaur, and more.

To survive, you must raise an army and build walls, towers, ballistae and other types of defenses to fend off enemy attacks. Progress through the research tree will unlock increasingly powerful defenses. Eventually, you can train an army of legionnaires to take the battle to the enemy.

Roman life revolves around the Gods. You must build temples and comply with their rules or they can quickly become hostile and ruin your crops, send devastating lightning blasts, infect citizens with deadly diseases, start horrible thunderstorms, or send beasts to destroy you.

Trade, hunt, gather, build crop and animal farms, create resource production lines, establish order, provide healthcare, offer entertainment, build defenses and much, much more!

  • Manage your people's food needs by growing crops and raising animals.

  • Gather resources to build more housing, industry buildings, social and religious structures in order to prosper and avoid plagues, crimes, etc.

  • Worship the Gods with Temples and offerings to avoid their wrath and possibly get blessings.

  • Research and unlock more than 70 unique Roman buildings

  • Trade with other cities for resources.

  • Raise an army of Roman legionaries, including archers and soldiers equipped with pila and gladii.

  • Battle mythical Roman creatures like the Hydra and the Minotaur.

  • Build defenses (ballistae, archers, scorpios, etc.) and train legionnaires to defend your city.

  • Procedurally generated, realistic landscape/map with animals and gorgeous nature.

Firm foundations of a great game with a solid road map and an active developer. Developer appears to be solo so don't expect rapid changes, however new features are brought in regularly and the developer has shown that he brings in changes recommended by the player base. Latest update has made improvements in game stability when at larger scales though massive scale cities will require high end hardware on the current patch. For reference my current largest city pop is 3100 achieving 13-18 FPS with a 8700k 3090 and 32gb memory with the processor being overwhelmingly the bottleneck. Is it $20 of fun? 100%.

Just Broken..... Things in this game make no sense.... I can only man an Archer Tower with a worker... I can't have a fully trained Archer man the Archer Tower....ridiculous. The sizing layouts of buildings make no sense. If you like grid planning, its broken from the hop. The main building size does not even align with starting house size. You end up with uneven gaps immediately from the outset which just is frustrating in a grid layout game.... sloppy sloppy sloppy mess! Tried it a year ago and after 2 hours walked away... doing the same again 1 year later.

Pretty cool Indie game. Its basically a mix of the old Caesar games and Diplomacy is Not an Option. You build a city and try to keep its citizens alive. It sounds easy but in this game mythology exists meaning that if you piss off any of the gods they will sabotage you. Also there are mythological beasts like Dragons, Hydras and Phoenixes. Also occasionally you will be visited by the locals that want to have a nice vacation trip into your city, plundering it and destroying stuff because what else can they do to kill boredom in ancient times. In my honest opinion this game is pretty impressive for a solo dev game and I am already looking forward to its future updates.

It's good for a solo developer, but it's sort of game breaking that I can't find any way to find, select or count my soldiers of each type...

I'm sure this product will improve given enough input by the developers, but at the moment the food and production systems seem just..well..broken. I am producing meat from 2 Hunting Lodges, Wheat from 8 farms and cabbages from 4 farms for 58 citizens in Summer, and yet my citizens keep starving and I can't improve my standing with the Gods or raise enough Legions to defend the city. Advice from the developers include "saving and restarting", but that really shouldn't be necessary (and doesn't work for me, anyway). I enjoy the concept of the game but couldn't recommend in its current state, unfortunately.

Came back after almost a year to purchase and play this game again. I love it, for a game that is not finished yet and is only being developed by one person is pretty crazy. I feel relaxed and having fun managing my own little village while trying to muster defenses against the barbarians. Would recommend this game 100% if you have a love of Roman Legionnaire’s and city survival management. The Roadmap looks promising. If you add a DLC or an Add-on the implements something out of the ordinary like having to fight the undead mode or add different factions to fight like the Greeks, Persians or a specific Celtic or Germanic tribe that build their own village that would be sweet and I would definitely buy that.
